Can you tell me how I can remove the A/C thermostat control wire probe that is inserted into the A/C evaporator core? I tried pulling it out by hand but it didn't budge so I let it be until I asked you guys. Is there a trick to removing the probe after it's been inside the evaporator after 52 years?

Also, should I replace this thermostat control with a new one or should the original one work fine? Not sure if it previously worked.

Thanks.

It should pull right out, maybe try pushing from the backside if it's accessible.

The bulb is for the deicer switch. It's normally closed, so you can test it for continuity across the terminals. Shop manual says to put the bulb in a mixture of crushed ice and salted water, it should open the contacts at 25° .

Thanks Hemikiller. I finally pulled the wire probe out. It was a little crusty so I cleaned it up.

I will test the wire probe as you suggested as long as I didn't strip off too much.

Thanks again.
