Hello Members,

Hoping some one could help me with an oil pan ID. I purchased a 351c D0AE-L Engine IE20 Date. The oil pan has windage tray? Some suggest it is off a Boss 351, Some say Cobra Jet. Any info would be a help thanks.

The second query is were the Boss 351 Oil Pans deeper to allow for the extra Quart capacity, or were the Dipstick marks different from the D1ZX-6750-AA Boss 351 Dipstick, compared to the stock D0AE-A Dipstick to just allow the boss to have extra oil.

Thanks,

Monty

Just to address the White Elephant in the room........regarding the Boss dipstick marked "Full" with an additional quart of oil, many engines , at higher RPMs, will take longer for all the oil that is pumped topside, to return to the sump. In the case of the Boss Cleveland motor, it is my understanding that the factory marked the Boss dipsticks as such to have an extra quart of oil available to the pump , should oil be slow in returning at high RPM. Knowing this, if you had a Cleveland that is not a Boss, but you've modified for high RPM, and drive that way, adding an extra quart wouldn't be a bad idea.
