I did the AOD conversion back about that time also. It's been good with the 3.89 gears but I'm going to go with a clutch and 5-speed this year. I think we have a few on here that have done the 4R70W swap. Sounds like the Baumann trans control unit makes the swap easy.

yep the holly would have a problem hooking up to the aod with the lockar cable so the 4r70 being a better option and better trans

LOL! I ended up using a lawn mower throttle cable for the TV cable on the AOD. It worked perfectly with the Holley on mine. I never could get the Lokar cable to work right. No doubt the 4R70W is a better transmission.

i hate that cable the holley efi setup works with the c4 c6 not an aod so the 4r70 being run by computer is my option.anyways that stock aod would not last long stock.

Good morning from Canada, I am currently working on my 73 vert doing the same conversion. I am using the ECU from a 2004 Crown Vic to run the EFI and 4R70W. Got the coil on plug set up from the Crown Vic and the EEC-V as well as some essential harness parts. It’s been quite a learning curve. Having my engine rebuilt right now, the shop had difficulty finding parts for a Cleveland with all the global shortages following Covid. He finally got a billet for the cam last week so all the parts are on the way now. Had the tranny rebuilt with a stage 2 shift kit and the torque convert rebuilt with a 2700rpm stall. Switched out the rear gears to 3.5’s with a trulok. I ordered the headers yesterday, going with long tubes from JEGS, just the basic steel headers unfinished so I can add the O2 sensor then get them ceramic coated in Edmonton. Only things left to purchase are the exhaust and wheels. I upgraded the brakes to MUSTANG STEVE'S S550 package so when I actually start putting all this stuff together I can measure for setback on the wheels. I found an Offenhauser intake on Ebay that some guy had bungs welded into already and got an Edelbrock throttle body for it. I order to keep it all inside the air cleaner I got the Pro-M MAF with the frequency to voltage converter. Had to buy aftermarket camshaft syncronizer and crank trigger to keep the coil on plugs. Lots of great info from Cipher at EFITUNING website. Buy a membership and he will tune your ECU when it's all up and running. I am sure I still have some unforeseen bridges to cross but I should be able to finish welding on the body in the next couple months then get to sanding and painting. Hopefully by the end of summer Iwill be laying rubber.

OFF TOPIC, Sheriff is your car white or pink? I can't tell from the picture.
