Hello, can anyone tell me if the Dan Carpenter hood locks are inferior to the factory tooled ones that are unavailable now? Would like to drill my hood prior to paint but I don't want to put inferior hood locks in either...NPD only has one of the factory tooled locks available.
Any insight on wether I should wait for the "good ones"or are the Carpenter locks as good? NOS does not seem doable at this time. thanks in advance. Bryan

OMS gave me the full scoop on these so I am all set, thanks all.

Foe anyone preparing to install a set of Dzus hood locks on your 71-73 Mustang, please be aware there are some mounting bracket you will need in order to have the locks look like they are in the correct position. On Pre-71 Mustangs the locks/pins used for hood hold downs/locks, we could just use the radiator mounting plate and everything looked great. Not so for long nosed Mustangs of 71-73. There we need to use amounting bracket that places the underhood placement of any locks/pins well forward of the radiator mounting plate.

To see whi it is important to use the proper mounting bracket as opposed to using the radiator mounting plate, just look at the first photo I have attached. That is as sad looking as it is goofy looking. Don't be that guy! I have come across some decent videos showing how to mount the hood locks in YouTube. I wish I had been on site when our restoration shop installed ours, as they turned out great!~

I recently installed these in my fiberglass hood and honestly didn't even check who makes them. Let me see if I can figure that out. They work okay but they are trickier to lock than the stock ones. However, this may be related to a difference in hood height between the stock and fiberglass hood.
