I'll be getting under my Mach today, removing my stock shock plates from the leaf springs, and installing '67-'70 shock plates, to accept a set of Traction Master traction bar brackets. I'm not sure of the chances that the traction bars will meet the bar's frame brackets that are already welded to the underbody. I've had Traction Master bars on the car since I bought it 33 years ago, but they were removed after an accident 5-6 years ago. The car got hit in an intersection, and besides body damage, there was suspension damage. When the suspension shop installed new springs on the rear, they removed the bars, and didn't re-install them. I just bought a new set and am going to put them back on. The forward bar mounting brackets have always remained and are welded in place, but.......you know how this stuff goes, chances of the new bars fitting perfectly still, may not be in my favor. We'll see. If not, it's a trip to the suspension/muffler/welding shop to re-locate the front attaching points properly. Fingers crossed anyway . My car is totally stock, with an automatic, so it's not like I really need to have the bars again, But I like 'em.

Anyone remember Mustang Depot? Eons ago we got to go out and meet the owner who I'd chatted with a lot on the Stangnet forum. It was right cool.

I had my first drive in the convertible today after having it delivered in January. I had to rebuild the carb, replace a bunch of dried out vacuum lines, all new fuel lines, and fixed a bunch of non functional stuff in the interior. The car has 66K miles and runs great. I’ve always wanted a convertible Mustang and really enjoyed my drive today!

Finally after like two years, rebuilt an OE distributer, and modified it for the pertronix flame thrower III stuff (coil and igniter) so far, installed and wired both. Dead battery now, gotta get the '71 off to paint shop saturday.
 
Speaking of PS pressure hoses, I’ve had a run of bad hoses over the last 25 years. While I’m not anal about a clean engine compartment, I really hate those small leaks that spot the garage floor and end up throughout the engine compartment. For me, it seems, the PS pressure hoses of my former Fords were the usual culprit. So, for my last two cars, 73 Ranchero and my newer 73 Mustang, I had a custom hose built at a Hydraulic Hose shop. So far, on these two cars, no PS leaks at all. These are 10k pressure hoses, built with hose that supports that pressure. With today’s lower production standards (flat taper cams, lifters, electronics, etc) issues, buying something I know is massive overkill gives me a sense of calm. 😁
