Maybe adding another 73 mach1 to the list in The Hill.

They've been slowly turning my part of GA into the new Hollywood.  This week, they're filming a new one called Hill, the story of Rickey Hill.  Set in the 50s-70s.

They are having some of us folks with old cars bring them out to be backdrops for some of the filming.  Our Chevelle looks almost showroom condition, so hopefully that one gets some screen time.  My '73 mustang has seen better days.  It does have a couple angles you can look at it and its not a total eyesore.  Hoping they'll at least let me park it out in the nosebleed section so it can pop up in the movie.  Or maybe we can park it close to the action and they can fix it up in post production.  :p

Filming is underway.  I'm note sure yet exactly how much of the old cars are shown in the scenes.  They definitely got some variety.

Off the top of my head, pontiac LeMans 455 convertible, 72 Cadillac wagon, 50s chevy pickup, 72 chevelle,  chevy2 super sport, big body nova, studebaker commander, and the 1973 Mach 1.

There's still a chance that my car was too ugly and it gets edited out.  But even if it doesn't end up in the movie, we'll all know it was there behind home plate, off to the first base side.

So, are guys gettin paid for the use of their cars?
Yes. They were paying per car per day just for the background. After they approached me to use one of mine as the hero car, that one was making more per day. You could bring your car up at the start of the shooting day (sometimes starting was in the evening), and just leave it there with the keys in the ash tray so they could move it where they needed it. Or if you wanted, you could stay there with it. Some of the locations were within a couple miles of my house, so I would make a few trips to drop off a few, then leave them and go to work. Then some of the locations were across town or even a couple towns over. For those, I ended up sitting around BSing around and mostly staying out of the way.

Some of the people who brought their cars were also extras in the film. Like they went through and did makeup and wardrobe and whatever else. Those people got paid for both - the car rate and the extras rate. I did some of the driving in the movie, but I didn't go through and get a full costume or anything. Just put on a baseball cap and try to slouch down to try and be the right height to look like the main character from the back.

Where is the filming taking place in Georgia?

This movie was done mostly here in Augusta and some in Warrenton.
The other ones I know about have been Augusta, Athens, Savannah, and mostly around Atlanta.
That;s so cool, I wished I had my 72 running it could maybe be in the movie
