So your car originally had that area painted black? That’s interesting. The yellow mach1 I did was an original paint 43,000 mile car. I wonder why they would paint some cars in that area but not others. Any ideas?

On the original 71 I restored, there was no paint in that area. But if you’re not worried about originality, it would help hide the color underneath cap.

I used SEM hot rod black single stage for the black. The rest is ppg base coat clear coat.

I copied this exactly as I saw it from a 71 Mach I restored a few years ago. No stripes but bottom treatment.

I just don’t care for the 73’s. Big bumpers. And the lights in the grille being vertical, I don’t care for. I know they are virtually the same but I’m a 71 guy. Lol.

I would tackle that challenge! The repop parts are getting better. And with a frame table it wouldn’t be horrible. I cut front clip off a 66 few years ago.

Explorer 8.8’s work well. I have had one in my car for years. Factory 373 gears, limited slip, and disc brakes in one shot.

I have run Icon pistons in my last 2 motors. Very nice quality.

Solid car. If it was closer and not a 73 I would use it to rebuild my car. Shouldn’t have any trouble selling it.
