    Fabrice's 429CJ 71 project

You do incredible work. Very professional!

    Hi everybody.

Welcome from SW Indiana. Nice car. I have a '72 Q code convertible totally loaded with options that has similar paint to yours.

    Holly Carburetor

My info says that's a model 2300 carb. Nothing about CFM.

    Fabrice's 429CJ 71 project

Your sheet metal work looks incredible, as has been the case in all you previous posts! I really enjoy your updates. I'm looking forward to each of your progress reports. By the way, I'm working on the drawing for the grille center support bracket we discussed. I'm going to do two versions. A...

    F-ing HOA issue!

I refuse to live in an HOA governed area. I bought a house on 1.75 acre parcel. I then built a 4 car pole barn 30x48 feet 12 feet to the rafters tall. I have it full. Parts, cars, engines, transmissions, garden tractors, wheels and good tires. My inlaws live in a townhouse community. The HOA...

    460 swap on a 72 Mustang base

I'd give Roy a call. He could be tied up or out of town. He'll get back with you.

    460 swap on a 72 Mustang base

Point being, you can use off the shelf headers with the convertible/429 frame mounts. Reworking the headers isn't an easy job. If you have Roy fab up some correct block brackets you can use off the shelf headers. He can even build the engine brackets to work with any of the three styles of frame...

    460 swap on a 72 Mustang base

The factory actually made 3 different Frame mounts for the 71-73 engines. There was a standard small block bracket for coupes and fastbacks, a small block convertible and 429 engine version, and the 1973 3-piece design that was mandated by the government. If you want to run off-the-shelf...

    Boss 351 carburetor

4300D's are just rare and hard to find. They're finicky buggers and I fought one for many years. When they're right, they work great. I fought with float sticking issues and a sunken float over the years. I finally threw in the towel and replaced the iron CJ intake with a D1ZX-9425-DA Holley...

    460 swap on a 72 Mustang base

Found them on a Google search. It was NPD, I believe. I think it might have been the last set they had, but you should check with them.

Where are all these cars coming from all of a sudden?

Lots of incorrect things about that '73. Wrong side stripes, wrong wheels, gloss black on the hood, and that's just what's visible in the one picture!

    HOLLEY Classic Carburetor Questions

One little thing. The two vacuum ports shown in the bottom view picture are both manifold vacuum. It seems that Holley has chosen to include two different sized manifold vacuum ports, on newer carb production, for various accessory connections. The ported, or veturi vacuum port that most people...

BFG Radial T/A vs Cooper Cobra for smooth ride

I've got BFG radials, 235/60R-15s on the CJ convertible. They hook up nicely and give a hard chirp on the C6 1-2 shift. Plus they handle very well. I'm not concerned bout ride quality, I'm looking for great traction and handling.

BFG Radial T/A vs Cooper Cobra for smooth ride

I must have been in a good profession. I'm a retired engineer and my income easily doubled in 20 years. In fact, I received an 8.2% increase in 2023. 4 years of very hard work in school made that happen. If you want to talk inflation, look a tuition. I was paying under $800 a semester in the...

BFG Radial T/A vs Cooper Cobra for smooth ride

As of June 12, 2024, the annual inflation rate in the United States was 3.3% for the 12 months ending in May. Blame the fed for keeping interest rates too low for so long for the crazy bump in in inflation 2-3 years ago.

    New member, new 71 Mustang

Welcome to the group. I hope you'll find us a friendly bunch. My '72 Q code convertible came from Chicagoland as well. I'm the second owner and mine's pretty optioned up. Red with the black stripes, Ram Air, blacked out hood and twist locks, air and power windows, competition suspension...

    FMX to 4r70w swap

Sorry, but the 429/460 bell housing is common to the 351M/400 engine. The 351C is common to a small block, IE 302, 351W. I'd be careful if you're wanting a 4R70 on a a 429/460. You'd be much better off looking at 6R80, especially if you are planning to make some serious torque.

    460 swap on a 72 Mustang base

I'm running Hooker SC headers. The engine needs to sit at the factory height to clear the frame and suspension, plus fan height to fit a factory fan shroud.

    Marti Report List :

Sorry, but it even says in the text that Ford wouldn't put Mach 1 on it. I don't see a Marti report attached either. It's nice, but not technically a Mach 1, it's a dealer special order car. If it was, mine would be a Mach 1, but it's not. Mines a fully optioned 351CJ ram air, C6, limited slip...

    Marti Report List :

I'd need to see a Marti report on that. No sales brochures, parts books, or documents I've seen or know of mention a convertible Mach 1. Oh, there's plenty of owner modified convertibles with Mach 1 decals out there. The MCA judging manuals all say no.
