my persistence has finally paid off. took me 5 years of looking, but just this week i purchase this nos piece on ebay of all places. it was in its original ford packaging with part number stamped onto the package. D1ZZ-6504522-C . although my search of this part number didnt come up with anything.

as of today there is nos plenum and vacuum actuated flappers on ebay from perkins restorations for $2,500. perkins always has the best nos parts for big money.

the frustrating part is the shoddy craftsmanship back in the 70's. some of my interior trim pieces dont fit very well. big gaps, etc. i am not going to modify them. i am going for concourse original. even if it doesnt look right. i am also having a tough time locating a few key parts. plastic...

i can agree that it is likely part of the dash pad and could probably be combined with the same part number as the dash pad. however, i do know that for what ever reason. ford stopped using this trim piece on their dash pads. it sure is being an elusive part to find. it wouldnt hurt to just...
