Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Currently working my way through the dash, after removing the LH door and fender. Found a small hole in the cowl above the heater. Awesome.

    Removing Grande logo

I guess you meant to put the dental floss behind it and then pull? When I posted before I didn't know there was another hole that gives access to the pin in the fastener, that hole was covered by insulation.... duh! From the inside I gently tapped it out using an extention and hammer. Also I...

Anybody create a support frame on wheels?

Hey folks, I'm thinking of welding up a frame to support my 73's body when it's bare, stripped of everything. I want to put it on wheels so that the body can also be transported while on this frame. In the rear I guess I could mount it at the front leaf spring mounting point. Dunno about where...

What did you do to your car today?

I prefer the big fat 73 front bumper but that's just a matter of taste! Your conversion looks great and so does the rest of the car, well done and enjoy! :-)

    Welding dent

I think too much shrinking (in the weld) is causing this flat spot. So I don't think I need to shrink anything, actually need to expand the weld. I haven't had time to do so yet though...

    Dashboard frame dent

Thanks folks! It looks really weird but I guess it's supposed to be like that then. I'm gonna leave it.

    Dashboard frame dent

Hey folks, I took out my dash frame today and noticed this dent: Is that s'posed to be there or should it be straight? Looks very odd to me... On another note: Has anybody trashed their frame and put in another dash? If you do, pics please :-) Cheers, Vincent.

What did you do to your car today?

I invested in the future and bought these from NPD: https://www.npdlink.com/product/disc-brake-conversion-kit-wilwood-forged-dynalite-series/196828 Ever since I was a kid I wanted red calipers on my brakes, visible through a cool set of wheels. These will also motivate me to keep moving...

    Axle/diff upgrade variables

The reason for bringing up the offset is coz I need it for the upgrade to disc brakes. 2.5 it is then.

    Axle/diff upgrade variables

One more question: Do 28 and 31 spline axles have the same axle offset? When I look at the lengths (for instance this pair: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/msr-a31-71must/make/ford/model/mustang/year/1973) it seems they have the same length and probably also the same offset? That would mean I...

    Axle/diff upgrade variables

So a direct replacement 31 spline axle can be inside an assembly originally for 28 spline axles?

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Amongst other things I managed to get the Grande emblem off of one side and in one piece, very pleased! :-)

    Axle/diff upgrade variables

Alrighty, I found the tag under a thick layer of crap: WES-T is a 28 spline axle. Manufacture date june 3rd 1973. 2.75 gears, open. 9". Why I am thinking of going 31 spline is because I am already changing the differential where I have a choice between 28 or 31 for the same price. So why not...

    Axle/diff upgrade variables

Hey folks, Currently I have a 9" axle with 2.75 gears, open diff, drum brakes and probably 28 spline axles. I'd like to change to 3.5 gears and an Eaton Detroit Truetrac diff, disc brakes and possibly 31 spline axles. So I've been reading and learning about this stuff for a week now and instead...

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

I think the blue is a primer used with previous repairs.

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Took the drivers' side door out and took it completely apart, everything bagged and tagged. After removing the drip rail and weatherstrip I was finally able to look into a possible issue. I was scared I was going to need to replace a piece of my window's edge but no, it was just filler gone crappy!

Is this a 73 inner axle?

Howdo, To figure out which rear drum to disc upgrade kit to buy I had to check out the axle flange. When removing the drum I did not recognise the axle flange nor did I recognise the axle retainer plate from all the pictures I had seen online and in any books I got on hand. 1) Why are there 3...

    Door hinge plate question

Oh that's good news that the ones in the A-pillar can be removed so easily! I'll have a look tomorrow then. If I were to bend a tab inside the door to remove the plates there, is the tab likely to break? Any particular one to bend if possible at all? Thanks Vincent.

    Door hinge plate question

Hey guys, Today I removed my drivers side door and found this rusty mess: I think it looks worse than it actually is. I need to drill out a snapped off bolt though and noticed that the plate that the bolts go in is loose. How is the plate fixed in place and can it be accessed and/or...
