    Jeep to a 72

Mine was named Frankenstang by my wife back in 2014 or so, since my avatar is what I started with: a rusty pile in the shape of a '71 Mach 1. After a few years of calling it 'The Rustang,' she decided that since I'd removed all the rust, it needed a new name. When I asked why "Frankenstang,"...

    Jeep to a 72

Welcome from West Texas. Interesting car you have there - hopefully, we'll be able to help you sort out what it is you have, and give the seller the business next time you see them (if, that is). The nose kinda reminds me of Eleanor from the original GI60S movie ('73 grille on a '72 car... but...

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

NICE Job! After redoing my seats with a TMI Sport Seat kit, I have a whole new respect for people who can do upholstery.

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

Moved a bunch of new parts for the Jeep into the garage staging area for when my pal Dave shows up in a few weeks to help get my CJ-7 running and back on the road. I'm setting it up for retirement and beyond, and took a big swing at finally getting it the way I want it going forward. I bought...

    HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS?!

I have an Edelbrock 14" air cleaner on mine with the original plenum installed (mine is a legit Ram Air car). It closes down nicely, and gets a quasi-Ram Air effect, since it's right in the air stream, however it's not true Ram Air. I do have a repop Ram Air air cleaner, but I need to paint...

    HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS?!

You are correct: Not functional at all. I think the TuTone paint could be special ordered, but the factory Ram Air hoods came with the TuTone, 'Ram Air' stickers, hood locks, and the plenum system underneath (to mate up to the Ram Air specific air cleaner - which this car does not have). I...

    HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS?!

That's the part I'm growing to despise more than the fraudulent flippers: National reputable auction house entities that are endorsing these scheisters and their illegitimate claims/cars. I hate liars... almost as much as I hate hypocrites. I've always admitted freely that I had to cut the...

71 Mach 1 Model Kit Builds

ALL '71-'73 Mach 1s have color-matched urethane [front] bumpers - all rear bumpers were chrome. The other models from '71 & '72 (except some special models like Sprints, or special orders) had the chrome bumpers - all '73s had the bigger 5mph color-matched urethane bumpers. Mine has a chrome...

71 Mach 1 Model Kit Builds

Mine was an '82 GL - it was a 2.3L 4-cyl, FMX automatic, carb'd with A/C - which meant it was not quick at all. Still, I loved it and used my meager E-1/E-2 pay to make it mine. I didn't get a pic of it when I bought it, but scoured the 'net and found this one, which was close (mine had...

71 Mach 1 Model Kit Builds

I picked up one of the Harbor Freight airbrush kits, and it's a solid compressor, the hose is fine, and the AB itself is craft quality (keep it absolutely clean, and it'll be fine). However, tankless air compressors suck - the pressure builds up a little bit in the line, and when you first hit...

    Wife's Mach1

Congrats! It'll look awesome with no stripes - that's how mine came from the factory (no stripes or spoilers), however it is a Ram Air car, so I have the TuTone on the hood.

    New Ford F150 Ad with 7123 Mach1

Oddly enough, I saw almost that exact same rig driving up a main road near my house about 3 months ago (F-150 towing a white '71-'72 on a flat bed - it had dog-dishes, though). Still haven't heard anything about someone getting a 'new' '71-'72 Mach 1 in town.

NACA HOODS FOR '71 TO '73 MUSTANGS. CORRECT OR INCORRECT!

The style of ducts were invented when the agency was called NACA, therefore "NACA" is correct - on just about any other application they're still called "NACA Ducts." Just because they changed the name of the agency later, doesn't make them "NASA" hoods... but so many years of referring to it...

71 Mach 1 Headliner Finished Detail

Good catch, Kilgon. I forgot to mention that - it worked wonders for me when I did mine.

71 Mach 1 Headliner Finished Detail

I put mine in using the windlace as well (instead of clothes pins). Also had all of the trim pieces, glass, and drip rails out of the car. Went in very easily. For just a tiny bit more head room, I recommend putting the stringer rods into the upper holes at each location.

    Anyone into Vintage Audio HiFi?

I didn't have access to my pics from work when I posted earlier, and I really don't have a good pic of mine all set up, but here's an old one shortly after we moved into our home back in '97. The system's in the built-in, and I made some speaker stands out of 6" PVC and 3/4" MDF (painted with...

    Anyone into Vintage Audio HiFi?

Wow. I thought I was the only one keeping the old stuff around - OK, so mine's maybe not as old as some. I bought my monster system back in 1989 from the Air Force BX/PX in Izmir, Turkey. It consists of: Pioneer VSX-7500 main amp w/Dolby Pro-Logic Pioneer PD-T505 two-tray CD player Kenwood...

Do you have a favorite car song or does your car have a theme song?

Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart always has me looking around and slowing back down to the speed limit.

She supported my car hobby, kind of...

So sorry to hear this unfortunate news. I can't imagine what you're feeling right now. Take solace that she's no longer suffering, still keeping an eye on you, and is still your biggest cheerleader. Hang in there, Ken.

New to me 73 Conv H code

It's a Grant GT wheel which can be found at just about any of the vendors and box auto parts stores (I got mine from CJ Pony Parts, along with the TMI Products seat upholstery and ACC carpet. You mentioned wanting a factory-style radio, but BT Audio - why not have both? I put a Retrosound...
