    Long time owner ...

Welcome from Ohio. We all have made mistakes in our early years, some big, some small. Thanks for the background info and offering to post some of the material you have collected over the years. We are always looking for info on these great cars. You might want to check out the top of the...

    Carrying on a tradition.

Welcome from Ohio. Very nice looking car and thank you for the backstory and the pictures. Glad to see that you are taking it over and plan on keeping it. Nice to see the younger generation get involved in thses cars.

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

Went camping last weekend and notice that the rear of my camper has some delamination. Got checking things over and found out it worse than what I thought. I have spent the past 4 days taking off the trim and prepping things to get ready to pull the wall off and replace the lauan. It wouldn't...

Holley 4160 secondary fuel bowl leak question

I personally would replace the bowl. I have a tendency to shy away from plugging gas leaks or using epoxies to fix them. Edited - miss read post so deleted first part on my reply.

    Kilgon's 71 Sportsroof Walk Around

Thanks. For the first time around I'm very pleased with it. There are a few things I wish I would have put a little more time in doing but nothing major so no big deal. I've since added a Holley Sniper and Hyperspark distributor. After watching this video again, I sort of miss my 850dp and...

    Engine to damn tall.

Hmm - interesting. I'll have to check into it. Car runs great but it won't hurt to learn about it. If it shows that it is detrimental to performance than I might want to go back to the 3" with solid flat top. Thanks for the info.

The difference between Stang and Vette owner brains!

The action of one's stupidity is proportional to the number of people watching.

    Engine to damn tall.

I have a 460 and I use 2" filter with a drop base and a filter top to get the clearance needed. Just barely makes it. The filter air flow area is a little more with the 2" and filter top vs a 3" filter with a solid flat top. A 3" filter solid top has 131.94 sq inches vs 166.50 for a 2" with...

What did you do to your car today?

Never fails, you think you got the problem fixed to find it out it caused another one. I was told a long time ago that if it involves pressure and hoses, to always replace the hoses.

Hello from PA! Restoring a 73 Mach 1

Welcome from Ohio. Please post some pics if you could. We love looking at them and to see what you have. And yes, the C6 are big but they are probably one of the best automatics out there. Like a Timex watch, they can take a licking and keep on ticking - or in our case, turning. Depending...

    Need some carburetor help please!

+1 with Hemi. I would just chase the threads with a tap to clean them up and then switch back over to studs.

    Is this a vacuum leak?

Several things to check out. As Steve mentioned, have you checked your firing order? Have you checked to make sure that the balancer hasn't slipped on the hub. Bring number one to tdc using a piston stop or some other means to know that it is and then check the timing mark. Also, have you...

    Idle vacuum low

+1 with giantpune. A large cam will cause low vacuum. Also, as he mentioned, try plugging all the vacuum ports. If your vacuum goes up, then you know one of the things you disconnected it your problem. Start reconnecting them one at a time and check your vacuum after each time. When your...

What did you do to your car today?

Shows are fun. Lots of cool cars to look at and other car enthusiast to talk to. Make sure you take a lawn chair, plenty of cold drinks and snacks. I take a couple of microfiber clothes and Quick Detailer with me to give the car a quick once over once there. Also, you will want to have a...

    Backfiring 1972 351C FMX Mach 1 H code

When I hear the word backfire, I associate that with an ignition source occurring when it shouldn't. Other word's a spark of some type at the wrong time either due to timing, foul plugs, or burnt valves. Since yours is occurring while driving and you already think you have a lean condition, I...
