    Going dead at 80 mph

I had a '72 Mach 1 that did that at highway speeds once because when I installed the new engine I forgot to put the ground strap between the engine and the firewall back on. Steve

    Motorcraft D1ZF-ZA?

I've heard that Pony Carbs, who are no longer in business, would use later carbs to "clone" a Boss 351 carb. This may be one of them.

    HID headlight upgrade for F-250

Chuck, I have a 2001 F250 Lariat, and have been looking at options because the "ribbed" lenses are so clouded, light hardly gets out. I've read that 2002-04 lenses retrofit without cutting and are clear and I'm getting ready to go that route. Are your lenses "clear" and were they still not...

    A/C brackets question

Yep, that looks like the part! Thanks. That makes sense as I have a '69 Fairlane with a 302, and at one time contemplated installing a 428. Steve

    A/C brackets question

No, they wouldn't have been aftermarket, but may have been from a different year or body style. I should have labeled them, but didn't.

    A/C brackets question

I picked these brackets up for another project several years ago and can't remember if they came off a 302 or a 351W. Can anyone tell by looking at them? There aren't any part numbers on them for me to look up. Thanks. Steve

    Any Torino folks?

Bob, I just passed this along to a '68/'69 Fairlane/Torino group I belong to. Hopefully your inbox gets buried in requests. ;) Hope you don't mind but I suggested the guys with '69's talk to you about doing some of those as well. Steve

    Driveway Dilemma

If the garage is a two car, you could put wheel dolly's under the wheels, spin the car around and then push just the front end out of the garage onto the driveway. Use some blocking where you want the rear wheels to stop so it doesn't roll too far. If the driveway is real steep, you could take...

Nicely optioned 72 Mach on eBay - shield your eyes!!

Well that sparked a memory. When I bought my Sunbeam Tiger, a P.O. had reupholstered the seats in a red velour type cloth. With sun fade, it looked like an orange terry cloth bath robe. The seats were the first thing I fixed. Steve

    WTB Fusible link wire

I just checked and it looks like O'Reilly's auto parts has them. Other parts stores probably do as well.

Another welcome from N. Idaho, and I wish my B1 looked that good! Steve

    1972 351c 2v, intermediate start/rough running

I'd also check for movement in the distributor shaft while you have the cap off. If the shaft bushings are worn, your dwell angle will be all over the place. If you have a dwell meter, that's the best way to see what the actual dwell is. Steve

    Primary Wiring Path

Running a negative cable to the engine block is the best way, because of the amp draw of the starter. Also, I wouldn't run any cables or have any connection points on the outside of the body. I would also mount the battery box on the right/passenger side of the trunk for weight transfer. Run the...

    Good times, right?

Sometimes I wish my life was so boring and pointless that I had the time to buy stupid cards and then walk around looking for cars to put them on.

lever for auto transmission on steering column

I wasn't aware any Mustang had the lever on the column. If you're going to go to floor shift and then rebuild the column anyway, I'd just find a correct column that is already set up for floor shift.

    1 of 336

Kevin Marti used to say he would do special research for a fee. He could probably research the VIN's and build dates of the other 335 cars like yours and tell you which one of the 336 it was. You could also see if the original dealer still exists in California and ask them if they still have...

    1971 Boss 351 R code

Depending on how rusty "very rusty" is, if you don't do body work, you'd probably be better off buying a complete car that needs a little love and making it the way you want. If you have to have a body shop replace floors, cowl, fenders, etc., you could be in it $25K before you start bolting...
