    71 M code X pipe, H pipe or neither

I've had both on the same exact setup, and as others have said, I'm on the h-pipe camp. You won't notice any power difference, and whatever little horsepower difference there is, you can count on one hand. So don't let that be a deciding factor. The h-pipe has a deeper, throatier sound...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

You're more than welcome to come by anytime and take measurements, though mine may not be the straightest example, not by a long shot. I have the rear bumper off already, so whenever I have a few minutes this weekend I'll remove the rear valance and take pictures.

    hi my name is Mila

Hi Mila, glad to have you on here. We all come from different backgrounds and have different life stories, and love for these Mustangs bring us all together. We welcome you to the group and hope you get lots of good info and resources from this site, as most of us have. Your '71 is gorgeous...

    Winglets!!!!!

When that Windsible Kickstarter ( https://www.fun-tech-lab.com/ ) gets rolling, one of us may need to buy one and test some 71-73 scale models to see how effective the aerodynamics are on these cars. I've always thought most of the aero bits on 71-73s were gimmicks, just typical 1970s boy racer...

    71-73 Seat track extenders?

I'm surprised there aren't any aftermarket seat extenders for our cars... I'm sure lots of people would buy them, myself included. I'm 5'10" and even I feel like I'm way too close to the steering wheel. I can't properly extend my arms to a comfortable driving position, can't imagine the tall...

Nothing like the sound of a Cleveland. Hopefully you do get the privilege of having a 351 in your next ride 🤞

    Wrecked

That could've definitely ended way worse than it did, so thank your lucky stars the car held you in tightly. I had a similar accident where my car hydroplaned at around 50mph, luckily there was a median wall on the highway and I didn't flip. But my car was banged up real good. In my case, I...

    71-73 Monte Carlo Bar Installed

Yup… still no affordable Monte Carlo bar that fits our cars. To my knowledge, NPD still hasn’t retooled theirs, either. Suppliers are missing out on a nice cash grab from the 71-73 crowd.

    Ford's new ICE investments

As someone who has looked into EVs as a possible daily driver alternative because of their low-maintenance and high-efficiency nature, I still get turned off by a few factors. Environmental damage from lithium mining, the slave labor to produce it, EV infrastructure, software issues, the danger...

Am I the only one that strongly dislikes these fender emblems?

I’m in the “no emblems” camp. Eventually I want a mostly stock-looking body, but with most of the visual clutter gone. I think it helps accentuate the nice body lines when the car has no graphics or emblems. I’ve removed the fender and rear emblems, as well as the rear trim panel and holes, and...

    '71 Mach 1: A Father-Daughter Restoration

Hoping at least one of my girls gets the bug and enjoys working on cars with me. You got lucky, not only for having a kid that got into cars, but one that actually had a '72 Mustang on her list. Hope you two have fun fixing it up, looks nice for sure. You could probably edit the videos and stick...

    71 Coupe project car

Thank you! Yes, that's correct, although the guy who mixed the paint many years ago didn't get it quite right. It's a touch bluer than the original color (you can't really tell in the picture though). Acapulco blue is my all-time favorite Mustang color.

    71 Coupe project car

Sweet coupe! Welcome to the non-fastback club  Our cars aren't in the tier where color affects value that much, so I'd say it's not a big deal. In 20-30 years when these cars are worth a huge amount (as most classics will by that point) then numbers matching it will probably be the way to...

    Carrying on a tradition.

Welcome from sunny and grossly hot South Florida! Badass ride with a badass story to boot. Gramp's gift has now made the car transcend from just being a cool vintage Mustang, to a family heirloom with sentimental value. May it serve you well and give you many years of joy, just as I'm sure it...
