    Why?

No idea. My cousin bought it and ended up trading it for another classic car (don’t remember what it was). Never heard about it again. I kept the VIN written down with some other papers at my grandmother’s house while we moved and she threw it away -__- So I’ll never know where she is.

    Why?

Love the stories! I'll share mine. When I was a teenager in the early 2000s, in the infancy of what was becoming my hardcore obsession with cars, I was really into 65-68 Mustangs. Like, really into them (my dad had a '68, which I now own). My dad had a little book called The Ford Mustang by...

Original regulator - not something you see very often

How things have changed. I have to change my auto parts regulators every few years because they won't give me anywhere near a decade of service.

    Horse Force car on MotorTrend.com

I see your point, and I can imagine a lot of people are put off by the fact that it’s a fake movie car from a fake movie. That said, I also think it’s kind of cool and imaginative, as it’s not something you see often. They’re doing the exact same thing Disney does in their theme parks… a...

    Horse Force car on MotorTrend.com

Unfortunately, it's not a real movie. They themed the build based on a fictional movie they created (which doesn't exist lol) specifically to build the car as a "movie car." Yes, very meta.

NACA HOODS FOR '71 TO '73 MUSTANGS. CORRECT OR INCORRECT!

I think we can all conclude that the 71-73 NASA hoods are cool, regardless of how effective they are or whether the scoops are NACA ducts or not. I'm sure even if they were a huge aerodynamic burden, most of us would still rock them, because... look at them. Plus, I'm sure aerodynamics isn't...

NACA HOODS FOR '71 TO '73 MUSTANGS. CORRECT OR INCORRECT!

Same here. I've done all kinds of research on aerodynamics, but it is in no way my area of expertise. So if anyone can present hard data to prove one point or the other, that would be great. That means we're going to need a wind tunnel. And some engineers. Possibly some folks from NASA. C'mon...

NACA HOODS FOR '71 TO '73 MUSTANGS. CORRECT OR INCORRECT!

Sorry Greg but I have to disagree with your second point about our cars having legitimate NACA ducts. What makes a NACA duct a NACA duct, is its function, not its form. Just like titanium colored steel wheels won’t be as light as actual titanium and half of the exhaust tips on a BMW don’t...

NACA HOODS FOR '71 TO '73 MUSTANGS. CORRECT OR INCORRECT!

I hate to say it, but the author is right. Our ducts are not NACA ducts. It was great marketing by Ford, but what we have are hood scoops. Not only do our scoops not have the correct triangle, ramp, and inlet shapes, but they also interrupt airflow, which goes against the point of a NACA duct in...

    Instrument panel lenses very yellow

I had an old pair of lens and tried everything I could to get the yellowing out, but nothing worked. Taking a closer look I realized that no superficial chemical or polish treatment would remove the haze because the plastic itself had yellowed internally. Ended up buying a repro lens. I suspect...

Like / dislike of 71-73 Mustangs

In my late teen years, I daily drove a '70 Cougar I paid $450 for, and my dad had a '68 Mustang convertible he made clear would be handed down to me when I graduated college. I fell deep into the vintage Mustang rabbit hole, especially for '65-'68 models, and I became obsessed, not paying much...

    manual steering

I think you have it covered. As far as the complaints about manual steering, it's subjective. I absolutely LOVE the feel. The communication between car and driver is unmatched with a manual setup, and feels leagues above the super numb stock 70's power steering. That said, most factory manual...

    Mysterious sound. Completely stumped.

Jesus, I just realized I never came back to this post. Apologies to all. The culprit ended up being, as many guessed, the flexplate. The converter drain plug being misaligned pushed the flexplate out just enough for it to lightly rub the block separator plate. Turning the engine by hand was too...
