    Crashed the Mustang :(

Excellent advice, guys. Thank you all. I've been taking it all in with my "reasoning" mode on, and yes, it makes sense to just get a donor shell and transfer everything to it. I noticed the doors don't close the same and require a good "slam" to shut them properly. I'm afraid the secondary...

Lights, Camera, Mach1!....My car will be the main ride in an upcoming movie

Oh man, that's a great opportunity! CONGRATS! The 71-73s can use every bit of exposure they can get, and your car being as clean as it is, it'll be great for a movie. Hopefully they take good care of it and get that baby on the big screen. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we're...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Yeah, a front clip would be good solution. But I'll only decide that after a chassis shop tells me how much it would be to straighten it out. If it's too much work, then a front clip will seem more reasonable. Otherwise, I'll just replace everything in front of the shock towers. Maybe my brain...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Ok so here are some pictures. I was hoping behind the crumpled mess the frame would be OK, but that's not the case here. It's bent toward the driver's side, stretching out the driver side shock tower brace with it. The passenger side lower control arm is also bent, but that's an easy fix. I'm...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Thanks Mike, yeah Mister 4x4 sent me the spec sheet. I actually had a couple of hours last weekend to start tearing the front end apart. I was able to take off the fenders and bumper and the first thing I noticed is that the chassis is tweaked. The engine bay sort of bent toward the drivers...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Thanks Joe! Yeah, definitely happy it was in a "big body" Mustang and not a rolling death trap. Had it been an MG I would've come out of the car in at least 3 pieces. And had it been a Yugo, they would've never found the body lollerz

Floridian here, completely jealous of your weather. Also, jealous of your state in general.

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Yeah, definitely going to measure every inch of the frame. This gives me a good reason to take the car apart and get everything squared up perfectly. That means it'll take me a while, being on a crazy tight budget. You know how it is... save a few bucks here, get a tip there, sell some stuff to...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

I completely agree, Tim. What you find here is rare and I have never been on any other forum that even comes close to this one in terms of friendliness and support. My plan for the car is to fix it, no matter how long it takes. I was going to get a donor vehicle, but I haven't been able to come...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Yeah I'd definitely prefer driving in Arizona. The weather is very unpredictable here, the bugs are horrible, and the humidity makes it hard to breathe sometimes. One moment it's 95 degrees and the sun is burning your skin, the next you're pulling over to put the top up because a torrential...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Holy cow, this thread's built up some tension! Chris is upset over something unrelated to any of the comments you guys posted here, so I hope none of you (Im looking at you Wolverine) take it personally. Most of you have been great and have helped me, whether it's been through advice, a simple...

    heater control knobs ?

+1 for Don's suggestion. They are installed by pressure, all you need to do is pull them out. Sometimes they're pretty stubborn from being attached so many years. But no hidden fasteners or secret codes... just good ol' arm power.

    Diamond Blue

I've seen a couple of diamond blue cars, including my dad's '68 convertible. It's mostly white with just a hint of blue. I've seen variations of the color, and most of them only have about a 5%-10% blue tint. On a sunny day they look almost white.

Always wondered what the trapezoidal tail lights would look like if....

That actually looks REALLY good. Better than the original IMO. Who knew such a subtle change could make such a dramatic effect on the look of the rear?

Running your car into a wall and waiting for donations... hmmm, maybe not the most reasonable business model :P I appreciate your potential donation. Hell, I appreciate everything you guys have done for me so far. As far as loud goes... if having to creep at idle through the neighborhood to...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Guys, I'm at a loss of words over the generosity displayed here on the forum. Chris, the fact that you took the initiative to even come up with such an idea of donating money to BB is proof that through all the horrible crap and horrific human beings we see every day in the news, there are still...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

I've been following your build for a while and was bummed when you decided to sell it. 20 years is a long time to be with a car. I've had mine for a little over 10 and it feels like a lifetime. It must be so hard... you're a brave man. And it's an admirable thing to be able to let go, it really...

    Crashed the Mustang :(

Same story here with the collector car insurance. Nobody wanted to cover my car because it wasn't kept in a fully enclosed garage. I have a carport (basically a garage connected to the house, but with an open entrance and low walls to the sides) I can park it in, but that doesn't sway them in...

And is that with collector insurance or a regular insurer?
