I just did this a few weeks ago. I promise, my engine stayed in the car. :)
The whole job can be done from underneath the car. I have a lift which makes it much easier, but it could be done on jackstands as well.
My 73 Mustang has an aftermarket 2 post radio that I don't use, and I don't have the original. I'd like to install a delete plate.
Any idea where I can get one or one that fits well enough? Not looking for concourse, just a decent fit and finish.
I don't see anything broken. Does this all look correct?
Is there any chance that the centerpiece with the pin in it is adjustable so moving the pin to the second hole is for quick ratio?
That IS the issue I'm trying to fight. :)
It does work, but it works less often because of the reduced turning. Not a huge issue, just thought there might be an adjustment. :)
I recently replaced my 4-turn steering box with a 3-turn steering box (thread: https://7173mustangs.com/threads/need-opinions-on-redhead-steering.40773/).
Works great! EXCEPT: Now when I use my directionals, they don't always turn off (cancel). My theory is that now that I have a quick-ratio...
If you're not using the original air cleaner base, then they likely serve no purpose and can be removed. They cut your fingers when changing plugs, too. : )
Last update . . . Rechecked fluid level this AM. All's well. Took it for a ride - fabulous. No play, tighter turning ratio.
I wouldn't throw out a good box for the upgrade, but if yours needs replacing, Redhead makes a great unit.
Just another update . . . yah it took a looong time to get that pitman arm off. The tool I used tensions the arm and then you smack it with a hammer. I hit it for a while on my workbench. After some time I took it outside, put it on granite ledge and hit it with a sledgehammer. It came off after...
Finally got it. Holy crap! I loaned a tool from AutoZone and after using it for about a half hour I finally got it. Man, that was tough.
Thanks for the ideas everyone!
Got it, thanks for elaborating.
My Pertronix disty included the proper springs etc. the set timing and curve. I have 36 all in around 2,700rpm (I think, I may have to check again)!
