What did you do to your car today?

Well since I had the motor out again I figured it was the perfect time to weld the seams on the shock towers.

    351c motor frame mounts

Not sure how much this will help you but I have a '73 Vert and went through the motor mount nightmare you are currently navigating. My original mounts were worn out and there is no direct replacement so I followed the directives of Q1SVT and drilled apart the rivets to rebuild from my old '73...

    351C Serpentine (Home Made)

If you are thinking about doing it yourself look in a local junkyard for an '89 LTD or truck with a 302 and look at the brackets. There may be a pulley on the air pump but I disregarded the air pump altogether since it was not part of the Cleveland set up in my '73. This is the only...

    351C Serpentine (Home Made)

Once you have the pulleys It’s easy to figure out. Just really time consuming. I am flying down at the beginning of December if you want to take your car out for a drive.

    351C Serpentine (Home Made)

No 3 idlers and 2 tensioners. I just couldn’t convince myself to spend all that cash on a new system but over the entire project I have easily spent over $600 on parts and $12K on time. I just love repurposing old stuff though so it’s hard to quantify the knowledge gained over the total cost. I...

    351C Serpentine (Home Made)

Yeah you are likely right. I wanted the 130 Amp and that was the only one they had when I ordered it 18 months ago. I used to know guys that could just name a vehicle I could scavenge parts from but it seems as I age the pool of old knowledge seems to be drying up.

    351C Serpentine (Home Made)

I have spent way more time on this than I thought I would need to. I am about 97% of the way there. I think I need one more bracket between the water pump and the alternator, or perhaps replacing a couple of the smaller ones with one solid piece to hold the long bolt on the alternator from being...

    351C Serpentine (Home Made)

Well? What's the verdict? -3G Alternator from PA -OEM Power steering pump with pulley from 1989 LTD Crown Vic -Dual Serpentine crank pulley from a 1989 LTD Crown Vic 302 -A/C compressor, condenser, etc.. from a 1989 LTD Crown Vic (Rebuild kit is on the way)- -Water pump pulley from a 1989 LTD...

What did you do to your car today?

Another perspective First of all, the gallery system design prioritizes the lifter bore channels (with the exception of crank bearing No. 1). The first place the flow is directed to is the right (passenger) side lifter gallery where this gallery intersects each lifter bore by almost quarter of...

    Engine water hose diagrams

Anyone have diagrams for water hoses on a 351C 2V? I recall a bypass valve in one of the water jacket hoses.

    Pulley bracket diagrams

Yes that is exactly why I was happy to find the Crown Vic. Two belts. So water pump doesn’t have to run backwards.

    Pulley bracket diagrams

Thanks that’s a great look. I am converting to serpentine and couldn’t find a way to keep the original compressor.

    Pulley bracket diagrams

Man you wouldn’t think it would be so tough to find a pulley picture but look online for a while before I gave up and tossed the question out into the 7173 universe.

    Pulley bracket diagrams

Thanks for the diagrams and pictures. I am trying a junkyard serpentine conversion which is why I was excited to see an ‘89 LTD Crown Vic in the junkyard. It has all the pulleys and brackets for a two belt serpentine set up for a SBF. I didn’t think a 351C would be too far off but it is. I like...

    Pulley bracket diagrams

Hey gang, trying to update my A/C and using a compressor and bracket assembly from an '89 crown vic which relocates the compressor to the passenger side so the lines don't run across the top of the engine. Does anyone have diagrams of the way the other brackets all fit together on a '73 Mustang...

    351 Cleveland Overheating Issued

Did they give you the correct thermostat for your restrictor? Sometimes they don't match up because they are not the correct style. Does it have a hat? There are a couple of different sizes of the proper style. Check this out too. https://www.coolcatcorp.com/thermostats/Ford.html
