    Axle Seal Concern

The bore of my axle looked also a lot more worse than yours and seemed not to be centered. As it had still it's original coded seals on it I assumed that was factory. I cleaned the openings with fine grit. By hammering on the new seals I experienced that one went in just fine and the other only...

    8 track player speed adjustment

Billy Joel is well known on the radio since I was a kid. May have a 8 track tape too in a shoe box... I like his tunes. But counts an age of 41 already to the old farts club? My body seems to say yes the more the time goes by...

I’m back at it! Green Machine update

Great to see you back! How's the baby going? Does he already 'store' your wrenches? How do you achieve the grain on your wheel? Looks great! 2 years and not finished yet is quite long for an engine build but perhaps you made some sort of a deal 😜

Opinions on '72 6 cyl vert

So it is supposedly a rare car. Since convertibles aren't mostly meant to be violently driven and more a sunshine cruiser why not an old inline six? If the overall condition is good go for it. They seem to be very reliable. But you already have a convertible. What's your motivation? Collecting...

    Anyone Interested in Going Electric?

I hope for synthetic fuels in the future. A historical or classic car just will be not the same with an electric engine. It will loose all it's character for which we all like them. A classic car will have to make clunk, stink and smoke. Otherwise it's something like an electric restomod. If I...

    Intake Manifold Installation

Question is: why has any pushrod been bent? If you just replace it the new one could be bend again. So I would determine the problem and perhaps pull the lifters to check them for function. As your engine seems stock but not well maintained in the end it could be a stuck lifter that caused the...

    I finally found my home!

Welcome from Germany 🤗 Hope you get back your car soon and the work they have done is good though! Like the color! I would not paint the stripes, clear coat could get chipped off over the years. If garage kept you should not have any problems with discoloration or anything on them...

71 Mach 1 paint color choice help

As said I would go for the color in which you fell in love if you once went to a dealer. Or went to a dealer and ordered your dream car. If it is 50/50 for blue and white, it would depend on the combination of colors. For blue I would take immediately blue with argent stripes and spoilers and...

The Rickster - a 73 Mach 1 work in progress

Ron, awesome work you did! I am glad you found the coolant leak and that you do not have to disassemble the whole engine though. Keep up the good work and don't mind the two steps forward, one step back thing. You're not alone...

    Removing the drive shaft

I bet they will after 50 years... That said they could be still good on a low mile car but since you are there and your car is not a low mile, all original car I would change them. Go for Spicer!

Newly built engine is leaking coolant and I'm stumped

Go for the brass plugs, not the simply metal ones. The brass ones are thicker and holding up longer, in my personal opinion...

    She’s very squeaky

As said before, +1 A place which also could squeak are the shock mount bushings in the shock tower. They often are disintegrated or just ripped by false jacked up fronts. Now they can squeak and tore the upper shock mount. Lower shock mounts can also squeak, there are some little bushings too.
