Can't Remove Caliper From Front Disc Brake Rotor

Compressed air is your friend at this point. Put a heavy rag or a piece of wood in the caliper before applying air. Once the piston frees up, it can go sailing surprisingly fast.

So I Did Something Kinda Dumb...

Later that day... I misspoke - the exhaust manifold I have is D1ZE 9431-EA, which is driver's side. The intake is D1ZE 9424-EA. So I need the passenger side manifold. From the mustangtek website (http://www.mustangtek.com/exhaust/Exhaust.html), the part numbers for 4v engines are: Driver's...

So I Did Something Kinda Dumb...

Good question - I'll need to do some additional research. My gut says they are different.

So I Did Something Kinda Dumb...

The engine from my '71 convertible is off getting dynoed this week. It's a 302 2v at the moment under a ram air hood (with a close ratio 4 speed toploader behind it), but the heads and short block are built for more. I figured I'd get the engine in the car and shake down a bunch of other...

Can't Remove Caliper From Front Disc Brake Rotor

If you have a trash can, a hose and $12, you can put the whole wheel assembly in the trash can filled with a gallon of feed grade molasses and 9 gallons of water and wait a couple of days. The molasses solution will remove a lot of that rust.

Decoding Wheel Stamps - Magnum 500

Calchrome seems to be the place. If you want them done as original - with the satin finish wheel centers... Sit down They run $650 per wheel. The reason for the price is the wheel centers have to be removed from the rims. Both parts are plated separately and then rewelded together. They...

Tilt wheel, one more time: 71-72 into a 73?

I always ask for the seller to send me a photo of the item from a specific angle with a note on it with my name and the current date. If they don't send it, it's a scam. Also, if they won't use a payment system that has buyer protection, it's a scam.

What will my car be worth?

It depends. Have you ever restored a car before? How good is your free labor? What condition was the car in before the bodywork was done? What parts were used to replace all the sheet metal, suspension, brakes and fuel system - new old stock, Napa, Rockauto catalog, stuff found on eBay? Is...

    Brake Pedal Hanger Removal

I guess the first question is why do you want to remove the pedal support? It isn't necessary to service the parts you say are leaking. There are a lot of things to unbolt to get the pedal support out. Here is a rather busy exploded view of the support and associated brakets. And the...

Decoding Wheel Stamps - Magnum 500

I have 4 Magnum 500 wheels that have identical stamping on the inside of the wheel rim. They are genuine Ford parts as the center section has the satin plating instead of the hard chrome like the rims, and there is a Ford logo on the back side of the rim. Before I send them off for...

Need help/advice on my 71 suspension and brakes

I would suggest having the alignment checked before doing anything else. For brakes, make sure they are bled properly and that the calipers are not sticking.
