Re: door lock. So lean across the console and pull the lock button up? Or pull the interior door handle? There is NO reason that door shouldn't open. Heck I unlocked mine with a coat hanger several times.

It's held in by a bolt and a tab on the end that slips into a hole in the door. All variations of the deluxe door mechanism will work, but you would want to look for ones with tabs so they will mount the same.

These don't just go out of adjustment on their own - especially by that much. If the top frame hasn't been off the car, that means something on the car has moved. Get the car on a lift and start taking measurements of the frame and unibody.

How did your top wind up in this position? Did you have it off the car? From the condition of the pads, it doesn't appear to have been recovered recently. How well are your doors closing? Are the door gaps even from top to bottom?

I'm curious as to how the spoiler was mounted. The convertible deck lid has a different rib pattern inside which conflicts with the placement of the pedestals. Most installations I have seen involved hammering the ribs under the decklid to get them shaped to accept the bolts for the pedestals.

I'm always surprised when people to go to all this trouble to restore a car and forget to paint the steering column. Lots of key rash under the ignition switch. Definitely look under the car, tap metal things to make sure they sound like metal, use a magnet to check for bondo, get a paint...

I'm not aware of anyone selling a well restored car who would be willing to remove a fender for any reason. I sure wouldn't, particularly if the tire kicker isn't paying to do it.
