It sounds like your run position is actually start because everything shuts off. At the same time all the power should be going to the starter. Then everything comes back when you let it return to run. So, I would look at all switch positions to make sure they are engaging the right contacts...

Whatever you do don't spray WD-40 into the lock cylinder. It will cause the grease that is in the cylinder to harden and then you will have a bigger problem. As Don said the issue should be all in the switch mechanism and not the lock cylinder.

I have two 14" aluminum wheels on my '73 Mach I that I will not be using. If anyone is interested I can get pics and we can discuss price/shipping. They are rough (oxidized, etc) but I think they would look good polished up with center caps. Either respond to the thread or PM if interested.
