You are cutting off all of the flat vertical rise. The angled part remains but gets trimmed down just a bit.

Here's where I got 1/2" out of the air cleaner. The rubber gasket used to sit 1/2" above the rim. Now it sits right on the rim. Only a Concours judge would catch that, and I'm not even sure most of them would either.

I've always felt safer working under a 4 post. I also didn't want to drill into my garage floor as it's Post Tension Slab and you don't want to risk hitting a cable. I like being able to move the 4 post also, although I've only had to once.
