    dash lights

I agree with Sheriff41. The rheostat in your headlight switch is probably just worn out. Just replace it. Especially if it is original. I got my replacement switch from Napa. Although that was 17 years ago. I am pretty sure they still stock them. Keep us posted. Ron

Help! Need FMX trans leak opinions please.

I have the same issue with my FMX. I have had the seals for over a year but have not pulled the trigger on fixing it. Otherwise for a 50+ year old transmission with 158K mikes on it and that has never been apart it works fantastic. I am reluctant to drop the valve body which is required to...

What other hobbies do you have?

Studying history, running, cleaning up my adopted historical cemetery, I have an aircraft obsession, shooting sports/guns in general. I am big into trap shooting/sporting clays, reloading my own shot shells, cooking, maintaining my household, appeasing my wife and my cats. Staying in touch with...

Ever Take your Mustang out in the Snow?

My mother worked at the local hospital (downhill from our house) on third shift. My Dad put the typical 70s era chunky snow tires on the back. Mom always made it home. Although at times with great difficulty. Let's face it our cars suck in the snow. She was always was and still is a talented...

Ever Take your Mustang out in the Snow?

Driving the Mustang in the snow. Hmmmmm. Not since my parents used it as a daily driver and the last time was in 1976. I would never do it now. RI loves salting everything big time. Ron

    72 'R' code at Mecuum

The tacky mods devalued it. Why do people screw around with a supposedly rare and valuable car? It just makes no sense. Just the air cleaner alone is a turn off. Ron

    Mach 1

My paint scheme is as it came from the factory and I have no intention of changing it. It is a free country for now, so everybody have fun with your cars. The data plate and VIN still tells you what the car is supposed to be. Ron

    73 MACH I 351C 2V - Open Tach

This has been a learning experience. I never knew Faria made the tachometers in our cars. The tach in my car failed within the first year of my Father buying it new. The dealer replaced it under warranty only to have it crap out again when out of warranty. It has been broken ever since. I have...

    advice about cylinder head

Yes ,you need to change your cam ,lifters (obviously) ,pushrods (rollers lifters need shorter pushrods) and change distributor gear to a steel gear. You can have a machine shop install bronze valve guides in your stock heads which is what I did. I have no detonation issues with my stock 2V...

    Control arm question

Avoid rupturing the boot. The Ford manual specifically states not to. Overfilling the joint with grease will do just that. I have worked at shops where some of the guys would just keep pumping grease into various joints until the boots exploded. It always annoyed me. Ron

    1972 Mach 1 at Mecum.

Yes, Ram air was only available on the 351 2V in 1972 due to Ford being unable to get EPA certification for the ram air equipped 351 4V after 1971. Ron

50th birthday for the Mustang today

Mine is an August 1971 build. It was a mind f#$@ for me when I realized that my car is a half a century old. Come to think of it, I am a few months shy of a half a century old. Happy birthdays to all on the forum! Ron
