    73 project (advice wanted)

The long tube headers are easy to install with the long motor mount bolts pulled and the motor lifted 1" use a board to distribute the weight of the jack on the pan or lift from the top. The Hooker headers are only 300. You'll need reducers to go to your pipes, which you'll most likely want to...

Assembly reference for finishing 351 cleveland long block?

Ha, I remember them recalibrating the wrenches at Gas Turbine. I wonder how accurate my personal torque wrenches are now. I still have C200 anti seize containers from building engines in the aircraft industry. I just used a lil on my lug bolts & only use the impact on the lowest setting to...

Assembly reference for finishing 351 cleveland long block?

I'm not sure I recommend it for beginners. You need to be experienced in calibrated elbows. I wouldn't trust someone else to even install a plug, they might not use both hands to secure the tool, cracking the porcelain, yet alone get the torque right. Valve covers, oil pans? way too many people...

Assembly reference for finishing 351 cleveland long block?

Of course, we are assuming the threads are clean. I try to use thread chasers, now often called thread restorers. Never use taps since they cut instead of clean. If you don't have clean threads, you don't have accurate torque. You can get cheap sets at harbor freight, better than not using them...

    New Shop is 99.9% done

Hopefully he farmed out the concrete work to someone who took some pride in their work. Like properly working the dirt, setting up the forms to allow enough concrete, monitoring the slump rate, knowing how much to pour, not waiting on a load while one dries etc. properly finishing, anchors...

    Glass three window

Nice stance, i also like the wheels on all of them. Ha I should have noticed the brackets on the Pete n Jakes coupe between the grill n cowl for the hood. I take it the hood is extended 4" or more. The Hemi would require a larger teardrop attachment on the side. I guess the over the frame type...

    Glass three window

If you are going with the cookie cutter 350 Chevy, There's no resale. I know they make everything bolt right in. No welding, no fab necessary. It all bolts together. The problem is, if you are walking along a row of hot rods, you are most likely going to walk right by all the Chevy small blocks...

    Partial Cowl Panel?

Do you have a photo of the rusted section? I never buy panels, I end up selling the ones I get for extra cash. This last Mustang came with complete floor panels, that I sold for 70% of the new price. Let someone else drill out all the spot welds and seam seal the next panel in, when the rust is...

    Glass three window

Ye this is the route I'm going with the 34 slightly chopped maybe sneak in 1" of channel on the floor. Since it's all separated. I'll have just over 1" on the front/coming close to the stock valve covers. Those covers they are using are like jewelry. They are proud of them. I still like the...

So, they moved the whole business out of that taxation hell, good for them. The 392 may be the big seller, however, the 354 Hemi is the ideal street motor for the street. I just drove my 354 this week in a 50 convertible, very reliable and high nickel motors. I've worked with these old Hemis for...

    Glass three window

Hmmm.. never thought about adding that to the frame. 1st pic On this car I channeled the car over the frame and fabricated over the frame headers on the Hemi. The frame ends up hidden. That's a Nissan truck frame w/a 35 Plymouth Body Corvette front end and Jag v12 rearend 392 Hemi w/toploader...

    Time to rebuild the FMX?

got to love the drivability w/a 3:89 gear. I have to rebuild a AODE in my truck & will be learning the improvements in the process... I may become a fan. Not sure I'm wanting to go manual in this car. I have two manuals and love them for the cars they are in. They are fun, however, continuous...

    Time to rebuild the FMX?

manual OD (tko 600) yep lighter and much more fun. I could see the 3k+ investment in the future, if I keep this. That's the best of both worlds.

    Time to rebuild the FMX?

I noticed 3 of you rec'd the AOD. Which AOD are you using? I have one in my FX4 it only has 10k miles and needs rebuilt already. This time I'm doing it myself. I want to see what is failing. I'm not forking out another 2400 for only 10k miles. You guys must be buying them built to handle a few...

    Time to rebuild the FMX?

The AOD concept is tempting, however, not in my budget at the moment either. There's nothing wrong w/the FMX they are a lil heavy but durable. I personally would put some blocks under my wheels n pull it & rebuild it myself. It pays to have a hydraulic press if needed. You'd need the tool to...

The Rickster - a 73 Mach 1 work in progress

I just read about the windshield, I was pulling down on my stubborn rearview & wondered if that ever happened. Now I know. After all that work it's almost there. I've got to admit....I really like the colors. I would have never imagined they'd pop like that. You'll be working bugs out of it for...
