Convert gauge cluster to aftermarket gauges?

Have done mine using new dash center piece and 2" electronic gauges. I had to use a Dremel tool to round out the oblong holes, but it went pretty slick. Much better than gauges under the dash.

Trunk lid will not stay open

Here's a pic of the tool I made after trying the vice grip method and damn near taking a finger or two off. It really worked to move the spring rod to the max position (most rearward).

NEED ALL MEMBERS TO RESPOND PLEASE!

I believe you would need to change the mounting brackets too, but I'm not sure because it was done by the previous owner about 8 years ago. I can try to add a picture of the mounts tomorrow.

    73’ Convertible Front Bumper

Did the same on my 73. Didn't like the open space in the front valance so I added lower turn signal lights like what was in 71's.

Show me Examples of aftermarket gauge or tach installs?

I bought a new center piece for the three gauge cluster and rounded out the holes to have the gauges fit flush. My Mach didn't come with the gauge pack originally and I didn't want them mounted under the dash. I also had the idiot light conversion done by rocket man for an original looking tach.

    Vapor lock, I think

Picture of 1" square tubing used to brace upper control arm to frame so suspension drop doesn't tear up ball joint boots when lifting car.

    Vapor lock, I think

Here's just the insulation. I might be able to find out exactly where it was purchased, but I think it's fairly common.

    Vapor lock, I think

This is the insulation coming up through the power steering bracket. I tried to add another picture of just the insulation, but I can't figure this format out used on the forum. I got it from a friend, and it works nice, you just slide it over the fuel line. I'll try to add the other picture to...

    Vapor lock, I think

Had the same issue on my 73 with the 351c motor. I ended up insulating the fuel line going from the pump up through the power steering pump bracket where it was close to the engine block. I then used an insulator between the cast manifold and carb as stated by stanglover, no more dying issues.

What did you do to your car today?

I ordered replacement ball joint dust boots off of eBay, seller was pidob79. They have a variety of sizes, after measuring the shaft on the ball joint with a caliper I bought the ones that were 15mm x 34mm and 28mm tall. They're a universal silicone dust boot that should be better than the cheap...

What did you do to your car today?

Replacing the upper ball joint boots on my new ball joints. They were ripped when lifting the car without bracing the upper control arm to the frame. Once fixed I'll know better - I cut two pieces of 1" square tubing to 7" to fit the space between the upper control arm and the frame, and it...

Heater fan sounds like an egg beater

Used the link provided by Hemikiller and it was the best $16 spent in a long time. I looked at manuals before and they were a lot of dough, but getting the e-version was the way to go, and you can transfer it to a thumb drive for convenience. Thanks again for the help, I'll be tackling this...

Heater fan sounds like an egg beater

Thank you for the info. I was afraid it wouldn't be as easy as it could've been. It's frustrating being able to see the whole fan but not be able to remove it without going through all of that. Thanks again for the link and the info.

Heater fan sounds like an egg beater

Mine is quite different, it's on the passenger side and I can't see anyway to remove it. It's right there where I can see it but it almost seems like the whole system will have to come out. I've already cursed the engineers, I'm hoping it's just me missing something.

Heater fan sounds like an egg beater

I have to replace the blower motor on my 73 mach with no A/C. I can see the squirrel cage on the passenger side after removing the duct work, but I can't see how the blower comes out. Any ideas?

    Steering column removal

Thanks Midlife. I was able to separate the plugs by sticking a small blade screwdriver through the small hole where part of the red tab was and prying the two halves apart. I figured it had to come apart one way or the other, and I think I'll be able to use it again when I put it all back...

    Steering column removal

I'm removing my steering column on my 73 Mach 1 to get better access to my clutch/brake pedal linkage that needs rebuilding and I can't unplug one of the harnesses. I got the grey one that has a right angle bend to it unplugged, but I can't do the other one that is a simple black one to...
