Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The bloody floor.

Pfff, no posts for over a month... What's been happening (apart from being quarantained for 9 days due to Covid...)? I de-rusted the sides of the RH seat riser that touch the floor in phosphoric acid. : After cleaning it up I primed it so it won't rust for a while. Oh, and I patched that cut...

    Lower Cowl Repair Question

I went in exactly the same but I put in a new bottom patch without a hole coz I don't need it with aftermarket airco. If I did need a hole and a hat I'd have fabricated it myself.

Living with Vette instead of Stang

You are just trying to make us feel better about you getting that car, right? ;-) I really wanted one once. Then at a car show I asked if I could try one on. I'm 6'4. Now I'm looking for pickups more :-)

    subframe connectors and speed humps

Howdo folks. I'm home with bloody covid so I can't do much else but research stuff. I came across this website: - https://dazecars.com/dazed/sub-frame.html Anybody build a set of these? Any experiences you wanna share? I think I'll make some myself, saves a lot of money! Cheers, Vincent.

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The bloody floor.

This weekend I had 2 goals. 1) Remove the driveshaft. Not very hard, it weighed a LOT less than I thought! I did not have bearings falling out of the U-joint or oil running out of my C6. The whole thing was a lot less eventful as expected. 2) I wanted to start ripping out the floor...

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The bloody floor.

Because I didn't want my resto to go tooooo fast, I took a small all-inclusive vacation with the family to the Turkish riviera: When I got home, I had a great surprise, my front discs arrived! These were ordered through NPD on January 4th! I now have Wilwood discs in store for all 4...

Hi, In the coming years I'm going to have my own 351C 2V rebuild, may I ask what you are gonna do with your 2V engine to get it to put out 450HP? Cheers, Vincent.

    Removing the drive shaft

I'm taking the car apart and am replacing lots of parts. Do U-joints need replacing after 50 years?

    Removing the drive shaft

Hi folks, I want to remove the driveshaft on my 73 (C6 with 9"diff). Is it simply a matter of removing the U bolts on the rear yoke and then pulling it out of the C6? I read something about taping up something to make sure the bearings dont fall out near the rear somewhere? Cheers, Vincent.

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The bloody floor.

Had to lift the car further and wanted to be able to move the rear around so I finished my home made wheel dollies. They are really strong, no flexing whatsoever: And then I wanted to try and get the drive shaft out but the exhaust was in the way, so I removed those instead: The bolts that...

WHY? are 71-73 stangs so big?

I don't understand why our car's size is such a big deal to people. If you don't like it, leave it. Why downplay something others like? If I see a car I don't like I'm not gonna vent it coz I want their owners to feel great about their cars just like I feel about mine. This discussion really is...

VICTORY IS MIIIIIINE! ;-) Cleaned it, put the gear clamp on and gently hammered it back through the hole. less than 5 minutes each. Thanks again for this pro tip! V.

    Drop off holes. WHY?

o_O Right, I closed one too many holes then, crap... Oh well, at least every bit of welding increases my skills...

    Drop off holes. WHY?

Right. Though I'm not convinced about those gutters (bit far fetched imo and they could also just be there to strengthen stuff) I did only close the 2 holes closest to the rear and have left the ones right behind the wheel open for now.

Pulling E-brake cable from backing plate

Cheers guys! I tried the zip tie but maybe it was too dirty still coz that didn't work. Panther piss? LOL I guess that's some cleaning agent? I'll try that and I have wrenches with box end, gear clamps and more zip ties ready! Ta! V.

Pulling E-brake cable from backing plate

Hey folks, I am trying to remove the E-brake cable without breaking it but I am stuck at the backing plate that closes the back of the drum. The retainer keeping the cable in, has anybody been able to wiggle it back out or is that impossible? It’s the retainer in below image: Any ideas to...
