Best daily driver tires/15" Magnum wheels/rainy FL

Thanks all! I like the HP to brain cells ratio. It seems to improve as we age! Thanks for the tip on the carb linkage, It will see if it is on the farthest out hole. Concur on being out in the rain. The plan is if we know there will be rain, he will drive my truck to school, but this is FL and...

And that might be the best thought of all. I will print it and make my son read it.

Best daily driver tires/15" Magnum wheels/rainy FL

The fronts are 2519 and the rears are 1420, so they should still have life, if not wet traction. We bought the thing in July 2020, so the tires, and possibly the wheels, were part of the dress up campaign to move the car. They do give it a nice look and that's what they usually go for when...

Best daily driver tires/15" Magnum wheels/rainy FL

I just bumbled into the site https://tiresize.com/ which allows you to check diameter and circumference and also lets you see what tires are available for a given size. There are more out there than Tire Rack carries, but it doesn't have reviews. And yes, probably better to get 16" rims...

Best daily driver tires/15" Magnum wheels/rainy FL

Thanks all for the replies! The Altimax is available from Tire Rack in a 225/60R15 and that's sort of where I am leaning. I do need to check the date codes. I had completely forgotten about those. I had a couple of sets of Hankooks on my last F150 and was not impressed, but that's a very...

Parts For Sale FMX, PS pump & Box, 2v carb & manifold, drive shaft, cylinder heads Tampa FL area

These items are off a 1972 302 convertible and I am trying to find a home for them along with some other misc items I need to sort out. I would like to get a few bucks, but not expecting a lot, I just hate to junk stuff. I don't want to ship, but am willing to meet someone within 100 miles of...

Best daily driver tires/15" Magnum wheels/rainy FL

I have been poking around the forum and didn't really see an answer to this. My son is using his 72 with a 302 for a daily driver. We have both found it very skittish in FL rains with the Coopers Cobras it came on. It has the apparently classic Magnum wheels with 215x15 65 series on the front...

Dual Exhaust on single exhaust car this might help

If I have to crawl under again, I will try to make photos. The NPD dual exhaust kit worked well along with their hangars and fit pretty well to the original exhaust manifolds. The didn't fit on the Edelbrock heads until I ground some metal off the and American Powertrain transmission mount was...

Dual Exhaust on single exhaust car this might help

I am not sure if some single exhaust cars have the mounting for the hanger for the muffler on both sides, but ours only had the blind holes on the driver's side. I found these at McMaster-Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/90187A111/ Tight-Spot hex head screw. They almost seem to be tailor made...

Holley 4v 600 CFM throttle cable?

Thanks, I will look to see if Lokar has a solution for the 4160 Holley., but I am pretty sure the bracket I bought will work with a Lokar cable. What is you plan for connecting it to the accelerator pedal arm?

Holley 4v 600 CFM throttle cable?

I got impatient, will post photos. No longer an automatic, though that has also been a pain to deal with, but at least no kickdown levers or cables to adapt.

Holley 4v 600 CFM throttle cable?

I was hoping to find a bracket that would work, but as timachone, the cable has to be pushed back far enough to make it kink pretty badly. Paast experience with kinked control cables in other applications led me to be leery of doing that. The old cable was working fine with the Autolite. I will...

Holley 4v 600 CFM throttle cable?

We had the 302 rebuilt with Edelbrock heads and intake manifold with a Holley 4 v 600 CFM Street Warrior carb which is basically a 4160 from what I can tell. I am working on connecting it to the accelerator pedal which is turning into more trouble than I hoped. The existing throttle cable and...

    3 point seat belts

Any thoughts on the strength of the new mounting points? I can't tell from the photos if this is a two part belt with lap belts and a separate shoulder belt that latches to the lap buckle or the lap and shoulder belt are one piece. Not sure if I am being clear. The company does say that they...

    Adjustable engine mounts?

Does anyone make an adjustable engine mount for the 711-72 Mustang with a 302? I would kind of like to drop the engine about 1/2" to get exhaust clearance. NPD shows one from Ron Morris Performance, but when I looked at the Ron Morris site, it shows a cutoff at 1970 and the brackets look...

    Instrument voltage regulator polarity

Don, thanks, that's sort of what I figured on the digital and analog meters. A really good tech told me once that he liked to have both at all times. The digital is easy to read, but doesn't catch a lot of telltales for troubleshooting.

    Instrument voltage regulator polarity

Just gone done putting it on a voltmeter for the 5v output. Boy, it does fluctuate. I am using an LED readout and probably was not seeing the top of the swing, but the closest it got to 5v was a bit over 4V. Does that sound about right? The swings were so fast I don't think I would have much...
