    Time to restore

I am not rebuilding it to sell, I am rebuilding it to drive. As long as stock parts doesn’t inhibit making the car fun I will keep them on. I am also keeping all of the stock components I replace so if I ever do sell it in the future the buyer can always flip it back to original. Dropped off...

    1971 Boss 351 Engine & Trans O/H

I recently tore my Cleveland out and noticed there were no gaskets on the exhaust manifolds. I thought they missed them and do not recall the engine ever leaking exhaust.

    1971 Boss 351 Engine & Trans O/H

While the engine is apart you should get your mechanic to make a couple of changes to the oiling system so your Cleveland last longer. Restrict the number 1 bearing angled oil port and install lifter bushings. Google oiling issues for 351C for full details.

Thanks again for the input Junk, I am leaning heavily toward 3.50 gears. I found a 4R75E from an '09 Crown Vic and pulled it earlier this week, so pretty sure I wont empty my wallet at the pump by moving higher.

    Time to restore

Hey Vinnie, my mechanic is rebuilding the motor but I can make some general comments. Really all this motor needs is to breath better to hit 450. I am replacing the stock 2V heads with Edelbrock RPM hydraulic roller heads. He will flow test them to see if he even needs to do any porting to reach...

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

When I have the engine back from the shop I will do a crush test with the original hood to see if it fits. I really doubt it will since I have a Cleveland and will need to run the manifold with approx a 1' cap between the block and the manifold by using spacers between the 302 manifold and the...

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

I am using the Fuel injection system from a 2004 Crown Vic, it has the EEC-V which is programmable. Going to pay a tuner to dial it in.

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Wow, thanks Steve, that is way lower than I thought it would be. I just found a second hand GT40 intake close to me at a reasonable price. I am pretty excited to get my hands on it and get it over to the mechanic to give it a good porting. I have read a few articles on the flow that you can get...

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Lots of options out there. Trickflow, Edelbrock and Holley all make gt40 style fuel injection intakes. There are several used ones for sale on the internet. As far as the fuel injection system goes all you need to do is find an old ‘02 or ‘03 Crown Vic and get it to donate the EFI system. It’s...

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Adapter plates to fit a 351W intake or 302 intake onto a Cleveland with Cleveland heads. There are plates for either intake. If you have Cleveland 4V heads you use the 351W intake, if you have aftermarket 2V heads you use the 302 intake. I was super-stoked to find out that you could get an...

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Hey thanks! That gives me a rough idea. Is this the wrong place for such a question?

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Yes that is exactly what I am looking at. Converting 351C to fuel injection using GT40 intake. I have a stock hood (not scooped).

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Right now I have the stock non-scooped hood.

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

Hey I love the idea. If iI still had the engine here that would be the way to go! Guess I will have to bug the mechanic for a measurement.

    GT40 intake on a '73, hood clearance??

I have been looking for information on hood clearance. Does anyone have a link for 1973 Mustang stock hood clearance? I want to know if I will have to modify my hood to fit a GT40 intake manifold on my cleveland. I wasn't thinking about it before I pulled the motor and took it to the mechanic so...

    Time to restore

Thanks for chiming in Mr. I am having difficulty tracking down the intake and heads I want and it is forcing me to look at the budget. CHI 208 heads look very good but very expensive. They would cost about 40% more than what I was looking for but will make it very easy to climb up into that 500...

Has anyone tried CHI 208 heads and intake for EFI?

Hey gang, just working on a cleveland rebuild and I am running into supply troubles for an off-the-shelf EFI intake manifold. I looked at Trickflow but it sounds like they had a fire at one of the factories and are a few months away from being able to supply parts. If I go with a Weiand intake...
