Dumb question but WHY For powering the gauges do you need a 12 to 6v converter?

So I know this comes up a lot for convertible guys and they'res guys who rebuild them for a fee but I read a post on a Facebook group about a guy who uses rear window motors from a Chevy Cavalier and re drills the mounting holes. Anyone tried or heard of this ? Will try to get more details...

Hey Rod, I may just order an aftermarket windshield and install it myself. Can you tell me how to remove the chrome trim around the convertible windshield without damaging it as I'm sure they're "unobtanium" by now?

So I have 2 sets of OEM gauges in rough shape and I also don't have all of the under dash harnesses because this car was originally a straight six. How hard is it to adapt after market gauges to the OEM pods and what brand of gauges would you recommend Thanks

Also, when you replace the inner and outer wheel houses + the trunk extension drop off panels is it obvious as to where they cut out and re attached to?

This thread is awesome!. Been looking for some pictures and info for years about the 71-73 rear quarter skins. So after the cuts are made and the welding begins are you doing a series of spot welds 1st and then connecting them with longer bead welds or it this all filled in with spot welds? Chet

Wow............those Ford cover plates look hideous! I may just squirt a blob of silicone sealer in the antennae hole and put the chrome antennae cover on it until I can weld the hole shut and fill it.
