Power steering too loose, no resistance or feel '72 sports roof 302 C-4

My steering has no feel, it's too "loose". I don't mean mechanically loose , I mean it has no feel, no feedback. It's like there's no weight on the front tires. I've "lived" with this since I rebuilt the front end. I think I remember hearing that there was a check valve or something that could...

    Wimbledon white(?) paint?

Tearing out what little hair I have left out trying to find SEM 15855 paint to finish my "A" pillar covers, 1972 Fastback. I ordered SEM "15993", because that's what the old can was labeled. When I got it, the spray that came out was a clear spray. Rechecked the old can, and found a sticker on...

    Dented oil pan

Looking for someone to talk me out of trying to replace my oil pan because it's dented, because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I've read where it's possible to do this by raising the engine, but that the oil pump pickup needs removal, other people say it's easier to just remove the engine...

rear seat trim & rear seat covers

I have the 2 pieces of rear seat trim (?) that go across the top where the package tray is, and also the 2 side pieces. Is there some kind of small cover to hide the place where the 2 at the package tray come together? I have put the pieces in place, and the parting surface where the two meet (...

    Electric choke wiring question

Wiring the electric choke to my Motor craft 2100. I WAS going to go to the "S" terminal on the alternator like I did on my '66, but the lug is a push on type with a covered connector, so that won't work, and I don't really want to start splicing any wires into the charging system, ( followed...

    Standard rear seat trim question

Just received the 2 top and 2 side trim pieces and trying to find out what color they should be. Do the 2 that go across the top in front of the package tray get painted to match the tray or seats? Also the filler trim on each side of the seat back, should it match the seats?

    Electric choke hook up

I have a Motor craft 2100 carb that I just received an electric choke for, but it only has one very short wire to connect it to a 12 volt source. On my '66 289 I hooked it to the "s" terminal on the alternator, but this wire is way too short to reach it.  I am guessing I could just make my own...

    Filter gasket/seal

Just reinstalled my rebuilt 2100 carb and installed a new WIX screw in filter. I seem to have a very slight seep from the parting surfaces where it screws in. I know that there should be NO gas leaking, but before I over tighten and strip something out, I am wondering if there is a gasket or...

    STILL no start!!!!!!!!(REVISITED)

Did a total parts replacement , plugs, points, rotor, condenser, wires, and cap. The car ran fine for several weeks after this. All i needed to do was turn the key standing outside the car and it would immediately start. I drove it and it ran great. One day I had it idling and I walked away...

Motorcraft 2 bbl carb vacuum line question

Just got my carb back from a "professional" rebuilding service, and while reinstalling it found that the vacuum line for the choke pulloff is missing. I've looked all over the entire rear right side of the engine bay and carb and cannot find it. If I knew where the other end was attached, that'd...

    No start revisited, it's back

Did a total ignition system tune up a month or so ago, everything but the distributor and coil, all parts were from ROCKAUTO. The car ran great after the parts installed so took it out on the tollway and blew the snot out of it, no problems. A week later it was idling in the driveway and it...

All of a sudden 302 runs rough

Replaced plugs, wires, rotor cap points and condenser. Points set at .017. The car started always started immediately every time for about a week after all these parts replaced. I even took it out on the highway to "clean it out". I bought some oil additive today and added it to the engine and...

    Weird alternator light problem.

All of a sudden my alternator light flashes  when my turn signal stalk returns to center, and only when driving. I tried it sitting still and turning the wheel and the lever returns to center and no light. Weird, huh??

Vacuum advance hits upper radiator hose.

Just for shi*ts and grins I put a vacuum tester on my plain jane 302, 2v to see what it would read..no problems, but wanted to try out my new toy.  It read in the green about 17-18 in.hg. This was in the low end, as I've heard 20-21 is desirable. I tried to advance the dist clockwise to move...
