Need help - 71-73 Pedal Support questions

I used two bolt bearings manufacturer KML, part number SBPFL 202-10. They hold the clutch pedal with setscrews. https://www.amazon.com/Bearing-SBPFL202-10-Pressed-Flanged-Mounted/dp/B002TINT3Q I did have to remove it to drill for holes to mount the bearings.

    Storage Questions

Put a drain pan under the drivers side of the transmission, under the shifter linkage where it goes into the transmission. After sitting for months sometimes the torque converter will drain into the transmission pan and the extra transmission fluid will run out the seal for the shifter lever. I...

73 mustang 2V with ram air maybe.

its got 17 inch torque thrust 2 with 235 50 ZR17 on it. I like the torque thrust because they are lightweight. I think I need more meat though I will probably go with wider ones. The car oversteers predictably, let off the gas and it straightens out but going to a 3 link rear is supposed to...

73 mustang 2V with ram air maybe.

Been a member for a long time but I never introduced myself. My car came with a ram air hood (repainted) and had the hood scoops but no vacuum doors or plenum but the holes were there. In addition it has the square sided hood springs. I bought it in 1990 and over the years rebuilt the Cleveland...

Anyone know how to get a Grant horn button to function and not just spew sparks?

some cars ground out the horn wire to the steering column to make the horn blow. Our cars do not they use both wires like a switch. Grant has one of the terminals grounded to the metal spring in the button. You can verify this with a multimeter. Cut the part of the spring that sticks out and...

A good read on motor oil

https://schaeffersoilshop.com/products/0708-006-supreme%E2%84%A2-7000-synthetic-plus-racing-oil-15w-40 called racing oil because it does not meet the current engine oil standards. It does protect flat tappet cams and is not formulated to be better for diesels or gasoline engines. Most racing...

Precipitous drop in oil pressure at idle

I am going to say the front cam bearing is probably driven too deep. The front cam bearing covers an oil passage. It cannot be driven to center or it will uncover too much of that oil passage. It needs to be only about .005 inch from flush with the front. You will probably need to change the rod...

351 Cleveland harmonic balancer slipped photos

I put a dayco "race performance" balancer on my milder engine. I just could not bear to reinstall the original one. I think I would also go roller cam given a choice again.

    Wheel alignment spec problems

If it's lowered, you need more caster to reduce bump steer. The negative caster is probably why it doesn't return to center and probably why it bump steers. I am running -1 degree camber, 6.5 degrees caster and I started out at 1/8 inch toe measured 6 inches from the ground at front and rear of...

    351 cleveland hesitation and slow.

I used a powerbond on my 2v cleveland, it was dead on when I degreed the cam. I am using pretty much hemikiller's timing specs as well as using vacuum advance off manifold vacuum. engine idles cool and my 0-60 is 5.3 seconds.

has anyone used a torque strap?

Ok hemikiller countersunk his, I used the hole that was there. I didn't use anything to reduce vibrations though.

has anyone used a torque strap?

the frame mounts have holes in them. I shot some spray paint in the holes (from below) and then removed the motor mounts and drilled 3/8 inch holes in the spots marked by spray paint. then I put 3/8 inch socket head cap screws in the holes (with the nuts toward the motor) and bolted the motor...

    Lowering front end

I never had an issue with bumpsteer with my lowered car. I would encourage you to add caster because that will improve handling. Adding caster also rotates the spindles which moves the outer tie rod ends lower.

    351 cleveland hesitation and slow.

I would say more initial timing, it really woke my engine up. I am at 12-14 initial and 26 degrees centrifugal (38-40 total) with 2V open chamber heads. I have a 213,213 cam. my car used to go down the highway at 60 between 2400 and 2500 rpm with 2.75 gears and a FMX 1:1 third gear. I used to...

Exhaust Manifolds or Exhaust Headers? Go!

I have the ceramic patriot headers for 2v heads. 0-60 is 5.3 with 2v heads, 213,213 cam, performer intake with 1 inch spacer, holley 600 vac secondary. Oh and factory crank, rods and crappy dished cast pistons. Headers are the best bang for the buck and the combo does not have to be wild in my...

    Factory power steering box

I have street or track tubular control arms so the upper control arm is adjustable. I also have the heim joint strut arms and I started out with the strut arms as short as I could get them and it was 6 degrees. I did have to bend part of the car so the lower control arms would clear. I need to...

    Factory power steering box

I'm running a stock pump with a Lares 10:1 box. Also has 6 degrees of caster which takes the over assisted feeling out of the steering.

    351 engine tear down

I would "cone" the valve guides for more flow and blend the bowls. Also take a round burr in a drill and remove any casting sand in the chambers, don't polish them just hit the rough looking spots. Also the short side radius on the intakes is very sharp, round it a little. Headers and free...
