    Body Flex

This car has been a bundle of surprises. Just discovered the PO forgot to install the separator plate between the tranny and engine and now I just noticed one side of the engine has a 73 motor mount and the other has a 71 style mount that's splitting. Yay, more work. Oh well, I'm having fun...

    Body Flex

Oh man! False alarm. Feel like a complete bonehead. I crawled under the car from the passenger side and got a better view of the driver side rail. Discovered another bolt hole just above and 1/2" to the right. Problem solved. Sweating bullets for nothing.

    Body Flex

Now I've done it. I'm in the process of swapping my FMX for a top loader and have had the cross member off for several months with the car on jack stands. Just went to put the cross member back on and discovered the body has flexed outward about 1/2" so the bolt holes no longer line up. Crap...

    FMX Gasket Question

I'm not much into automatic transmissions but I'm giving it somewhat of a shot. I've pulled the tail housing and replaced the bushing & seal and have finally gotten ahold of a gasket. The one I took off came off nicely in one piece since it had no sealant applied to it. I'm used to applying...

New Old Gearhead who is happy to join the group

Welcome from Central Florida. A Boss! Very cool. I had the chance to buy a black one in Ft. Walton in 1975. It was at a used car lot for $3300. I was a college kid with a 69 Mach 1 and they would give me only a thousand bucks for it. Making $2.35/hr part time wouldn't cut it. Man, it was...

    Damaged Saginaw Steering Gear Part

Thanks Stanglover. Grateful for all these tips. I have everything ready to go. I saw a video of the taping of the teflon rings and will give it shot. Also felt the burr you are talking about. I did buy 2 rebuild kits just in case. I'll give a post when I complete the task. It will be some...

    Damaged Saginaw Steering Gear Part

Decided to tackle a rebuild of my power steering gear box. Watched several videos and got a lot of good tips. Things were going well until I discovered a gouge in the race of the adjuster plug where the seal sits. Probably why it had a slow drip leak. Gently ground the high points off but the...

How do you remove this thing?

I can relate to your back problem. Blew my sciatic disc a couple of times. I'm 66 now but my mind thinks I'm 25. My body however, says otherwise. Heal soon!

    Heater box, rebuild or replace?

Just finished rebuilding mine. I too had a chunk broken off the case but was able to make a solid repair with JB plastic weld. Also repaired one of the holes that a flapper rod went through with JB Weld and epoxied on a metal washer as extra support. Replaced the heater core and evaporator...

Parts Wanted Clutch fork, Z-Bar and Drive Shaft needed for my Top Loader

Hey Tony, did you ever find an original z-bar? If not, I have one that I reconditioned. Been blasted, painted with Cast Blast, rod holes filled in and redrilled. I'd sell it for $100 which about what I've got in it, plus shipping.
