Sold 1973 Convertible

Planning to offer my well equipped convertible to members first, and am wondering if this is the best spot in the forum to advertise? If yes, then complete description will follow.
Numbers matching unmodified 2v H 351c, C6 Trans, 2.75 open rear end, SelectAir AC blows cold...front disc brakes standard on convertible, 84k miles with cluster tach, trip odometer and center stack gauges. Medium copper metallic paint Ford#5144-A, white knit vinyl buckets, deluxe interior and center console, working original console clock, all instrument and dash/interior lighting replaced with LEDs, power top (replaced with new in the past, excellent condition)...forged factory aluminum wheels 14” spare wheel matching. 240 built with these paint/trim codes, AM/FM original stereo sounds great. Mechanically sorted (full tuneup, shocks all around, headlight relays, new correct radiator. Repainted in past possibly, but no overspray or panel corrosion anywhere. Ram Air functions as it should. Except for Scott Drake wood steering wheel, and upgraded front sway bar, this is as clean and stock as you would hope to find. Want a mustang to drive and enjoy as I have, and not drop thousands into to arrive at this condition? Have of course the original 1973 grille with light assemblies and hood release latch to return to its original specs, but like the look of the 71/72 grille, etc., swaps right out because headlight panel was same for all 3 years. Thanks, and universal joints all replaced and rear end dope (fluid) flushed and replaced...nothing missing, don’t think it’s seen rain in 20 years (by the looks, my opinion) just an annual waxing over the years I’ve owned.

What a beautiful looking Mustang Convertible! We already have two 73 Mustangs. One is a Mach 1, the other is (also) a Convertible. Our Convertible is a True Survivor in near perfectly preserved condition after being literally barn stored over 40 years. It has about 21,000 original miles on it, and looks absolutely gorgeous, although its look is more docile than yours. It has a base 302 2v, C4, and a non-NASA/NACA hood. It does have A/C, but its A/C is a Classic Air aftermarket unit that works perfectly. Nothing fancy about, just a solid, well preserved vert that is a blast to drive and enjoy.

All that said, if we did not already have a full corral, or vehicles that are already highly coveted, I would be making a move on your vert. If it is truly in as great a condition as it looks I would say anyone who feels the price is a bit high, y'all have not seen anything like that in your searches - which means you have not been looking. There are quite a few "also ran" Mustangs out there looking for buyers. But, very few that look as nice as this one.

Beautiful Mustang Gilbert (?, hope I have the name right, I looked at your profile to get it, and saw your wife's name, but not yours, but I deduced it from the youtube site you listed at the end ) What is your color code on the door tag? I thought ours were the same, but yours looks like my old 73 Fastback, (sportsroof), which I would swear had some metallic in it, which my new to me 72 doesn't. My door code is 6C and I don't know what my 73 was. Here's a pic of it. To me the color looks the same as your Vert !!

If it is considered to be a metallic that would be news to me. I never thought of it as being a metallic color, as it is not translucent like our other 73 Mustang (Mach 1) with its aftermarket PPG Sunset Orange shot over a base white to give it a candy effect. But, we are going to be doing some work on the vert this afternoon, and I will take a close look to see if it has any indication of having metallic flakes in it or not.

I have some more info for you re: paint codes and names. Our 73 Mustang Convertible, per our Marti Report, has a color code of 6F, and was called Gold Glow. If it is considered to be a metallic that would be news to me. I never thought of it as being a metallic color, as it is not translucent like our other 73 Mustang (Mach 1) with its aftermarket PPG Sunset Orange shot over a base white to give it a candy effect. I own a '73 Vert with the original Gold Glow factory paint in good condition.


This original paint is in fact a metallic finish. The interesting thing about this color, is the type of metallic that was used originally in the factory formula.
This metallic gives that appearance of losing it's metallic effect when viewed on the flip angle.

In other words, when viewed in the full sun, if you look at the finish from a left side angle say, it will display little to no metallic effect, but when viewed from the right angle approach, you then get a full blown metallic effect. This is quite normal for this color. It gives the finish a certain charm if you like which makes it quite appealing.

Lowered my asking price, everyone in the membership must already have their car so I haven’t had any excitement as I had when I acquired it. Am in no hurry to let her go, so I don’t intend to this year to advertise anywhere else...just wanted to find a good home while the weather was warm, whoever purchases will enjoy.

Last time I ordered from him, he emailed a copy of the report to me, which was helpful until the final copy arrived.

Can’t believe that you are selling it!

Downsizing as I get older, I’ve owned 3 1969 mustangs which included a sport roof and 2 GT convertibles starting in the late 1970’s. Always loved the convertibles, top down, sun on your face and wind through your hair. But now gone is the hair and my dermatologist loves me!

I did (finally) take a photo of one section of our vert so the Gold Glow paint can be examined more closely. I agree with AustinVert (above). It is a metallic paint, just not a flashy kind of metallic.

Your description certainly explains why I have had a hard time ascertaining whether it is a metallic paint or not. Many thanks for clarifying that. I am going to copy your comments and drop them into a file I have that covers the details of our 73 vert (Gold Glow 6F).
