1973 Mustang Production Info

I spent some time in the Marti Report section of our site today and pulled together some interesting information for the 1973 Mustangs that are listed there. I started with the 73's because that's what I have

The following information is based only on the Marti Reports from 1973 Mustangs posted here on this site:

There are 52 1973 Mustangs that have Marti reports. Of those 52

- 26 are Mach 1's

- 14 are convertibles

- 5 are Grandes

- 5 are Sportsroofs

- 2 are coupes

Transmissions: 8 are 4 speeds, 5 are C4, 24 are C6, 15 are FMX

Gear Ratios: 22 are 2.75, 2 are 2.79, 3 are 3.00, 21 are 3.25, 4 are 3.50

Differential: 43 are conventional, only 9 are Traction-Lok (2 with 4 speed, 1 with FMX and 6 with C6)

Traction-Loks: 1 is 2.75 ratio with C6, 6 are 3.25 ratio (4 with C6, 1 with FMX, 1 with 4 speed) , 2 are 3.50 ratio (1 with 4 speed, 1 with C6)

Top 3 Exterior Colors: 1) 9A - White 2) 6E - Med Yellow 3) Tie with 3K Blue Glow, 2B Red, and 6F Gold Glow

Top 3 Interior Colors: 1) Black 2) White 3) Ginger

The car that was built furthest behind schedule: 51 days behind (CaptJackD) for a Medium copper coupe - Stock Order, scheduled build on 9/6/72, actually built 10/27/72

The car that was built the most ahead of schedule: 15 days ahead (rentascout) for a Pewter Mach 1 - scheduled build on 12/22/72, actually built 12/7/72

Lowest Consecutive Unit Number: 111613 (CaptJackD) for a Medium copper coupe - Stock Order

Highest Consecutive Unit Number: 263742 (HighOctane) for a Gold Glow Mach 1 - Retail Order

Four of the 52 Mustangs listed were built in the first week of July 1973 -The last week of 1st generation Mustang production):

- HighOctane's Mach 1 built on 7/3/73

- jb73mach's Mach 1 built on 7/5/73

- Steve73QMach1's Mach 1 built on 7/5/73

- Vinnie's Grande built on 7/6/73

By percentages, the 52 1973 Mustangs listed here:

17% have Traction Lok

42% have 2.75 rear gear ratios

40% have 3.25 rear gear ratios

15% have 4 speed transmissions

46% have C6 transmissions

29% have FMX transmissions

29% were actually built in 1972

Well done!! Even dealing with one model year, that had to be a daunting task. With all the dates involved between the dealer and the assembly plant, the mind numbing combination of lock/non lock differentials, gear ratios, transmission-engine, interior-exterior colors and body styles, you were almost on the verge of punishing yourself!! Lol

Sure great to see what a cross section of vehicles we have on this site. Did you plan to do the 71-72's after you recover from doing the 73's? (Wink-nod) :whistling:

Yep - I will do the 72's next. I have already started collecting info. I love this kind of stuff::thumb::
