What would be a good set of single groove replacement valves that would work on the “m” code heads?M & Q code engines used the multi-groove. 71 & 72 R-code engines used single groove.
Regardless, I recommend you put multi-groove valves in the trash unless it's a stock rebuild, and get a good set of one piece stainless valves with single grooves.

I agree completely. I've had two multi groove valve engines that have dropped a valve when a keeper let go, one a 289 and the other in the Cleveland that was in my car when I bought it. Manley and Ferrea valves are good quality valves.M & Q code engines used the multi-groove. 71 & 72 R-code engines used single groove.
