Looks good, have you ever tried a rust converter? I soak my parts that have rust on them in the converter for 8-24 hours and they rust is completely converter back into metal so there is no chance of it spreading when I coat the parts in Por15.
Yes, I used rust converter on my passenger seat frame. It dries shiny and smooth, paint adhesion might not be the best. So on these frames desided to used Rustoleum Professional.

What type of converter do you use?

Let us know how this turns out. I have the seats that were sitting in a car that had moisture in it so they smell moldy. I would love to know the best method for cleaning. I am wondering if I should take them apart and replace the foam?
Rear seats only have cotton and horse hair. Definitely should replace all of the padding. Front seat have foam, mine is stinky and after airing it out for a month it's still there. Might just spend $300ish on new front seat foam.

I have used a couple of different ones from Canadian Tire, I don't have the bottles anymore so I can't say what brand. I haven't noticed the primer flaking off at all because of the shiny finish but I will watch for it. Thanks for the heads up.

So I washed my front seat foam cushion with mix of Borax powder, bakin soda and done soap in warm water. Squeezed foam as it was soaking for 10 min in the tub of the solution and then rinsed it twice, more squeezing. Water was gray brown, took care of the musky stench after drying on the sun for 2 days.

My all time favorite vehicle is our 1969 Shelby GT500
I picked up my convertible late summer 2022. Decided instead of rebuilding new salvage vehicles (for my own use), it's time to invest my work into something that will hold value, with how much time I spend perfecting things.

Car has original 351c2v with C6 transmission and all original premium interior. Previous owner replaced floor boards, repaired rust undercarriage sealed the bottom and replaced suspension and brake lines. Also rebuilt heads.
I have receipts which goes back to original owner, lawyer in Detroit.

My first task is to refresh interior (keep all original aside from carpet) then move onto wheels, alignment of ther grill.and bumper, engine leaks. Interior work includes repaint of the dash plastics, repair steering wheel and repair of padding under original upholstery.

I am originally from Ukraine, so dont mind bunch of incorrect English.

Re: any concerns for how well you communicate in english, you are doing far better than many native English language persons. And, you are doing a lot better than I would were I to try to communicate in your native language.

That is a gorgeous looking Mustang!

Finaly had some time today to finish rear lower seat.
I have completed the following to rebuild seat while reusing OEM upholstery:
Painted frame, reused wire/suntetic mash, padded with 1" foam + 1" super fluffy cotton + 1/4" cotton sheat.
Used 1/4" felt in the center bump and sides. No foam where center bump is.

Seat has broken wire, so if anyone knows its purpose - let me know please.
I did connected wire retainer incorrectly in the picture.
