Yes, give it more depth and will make chrome trim, surrounding whole grill, stand out more - like it did in prior years.

I made 1.5" long spacers out of plastic bar. Using 2.5" long screw. Will paint top plastic black after rounding off corners.

I used bar that was .625 thick, but will remake top spacers out of .5" bar instead.
If interested, I can cut and send you spacers.

In my experience, the plastic you used for the spacers, Delrin, doesn't hold paint very well. If you found a paint that sticks to it, please let me know.

If you encapsulate it in plastidip, it will hold as sleeve. I would send it with 220.

I end up using Krulon Fusion paint after sanding with 320 grit. Great for hard to stick plastics (and I already had it since last project)

Great! I'm always skeptical of the "sticks to plastics" claim. My old go-to was to sand the plastic, brush it with yellow contact cement let dry, then spray paint. It wasn't a really smooth finish, but it stuck! It looks like I need to re-evaluate the Fusion spray paint.

Now they state on the can no peal guarantee.
I happen to have gloss in my garage, so I end up surfing with white scotch pad as soon as the paint was dry to the touch to dull up the finish.

That looks a ton better than stock. I'd buy a set of spacers from you. Would save me from buying a whole bar that I wouldn't use most of.

Always thought about rotating them. With a recess would look good too.
