As I had posted in my response from last March (Post #5), forum member gmadrid found the J-3231980 flex duct offered by Crown Automotive. While not exactly the same as the Ford flex, the dimensions were very close to the Ford duct, and he reported it fit perfectly. The Crown Automotive site lists the dimensions as 2.5' X 3.5" x 12.5". The Ford service flex hose, D3OZ-9A624-B, is 2 5/16" X 3 11/16" X 11".
There is another Crown Automotive flex hose I found recently, J-5359272, listed on their site as 2 5/16" X 3 11/16" X 18". There is a discrepancy in the length listed (Isn't there always) as a couple of sites I found listed the J-5359272 flex hose length as 12-13". I saw listings by part number on sites such as eBay, Summit, Jegs, etc. You may want to check by the Crown part number if you have a favorite online or local parts store and see if they could verify the dimentions.

Since from an earlier conversation, you had verified that your '72 does have the NOX system, a hard plastic duct ran underneath the battery tray to the front of the vehicle. The Ford part # is D2ZZ-9A624-A (Engineering ID # D2ZF-9A624-AA, AB, AC). This duct is listed for all V8 applications, 302, 351C (H, Q, R).
If no one on this site has one that needs a new home, I would check with Mike @Motor City Mustang. He is a forum member and site supporter, has parts cars, and has an E Bay store.
He can be accessed under "Forums" > "Market Place". :)

With the '72s equipped with Nox emissions system and all '73s are now in the 50-year-old range, many of these pieces are missing or damaged. Unfortunately, for owners who want everything correct under the hood or a Concours level show car, the NOS duct and valve (9A626) and plastic fresh air duct (9A624) command insane premium prices. I've seen NOS air cleaner duct and valves sell for over $600.00!
Depending on the car model and engine, some applications had the flex hose attached to the hard plastic duct, others on the air cleaner snorkel.
The illustrations show the duct and valve (9A626) and the hard plastic duct (9A624), the location of the plastic duct that goes under the battery, and the Ford Master Parts (MPC) illustration.
Looking that the diagram you added and looking at different parts for sale, when it comes to the exhaust manifold heat shield, there appears to be a short and a long depending on year and some say for 302 and others say the same item was 351C. Some sell alone and some as a par with and inner and an outer. 351C 1972, do you know what exactly came on mine so I know what to look for? If we have new carbs today should we not even add it as the warming up feature is obsolete if it’s not stock so I’ve been told?

The purpose of the heat stove was to provide warm air to the carburetor to promote vaporization of the fuel. The plastic external cold air duct provided a cooler air charge than the under-hood temps, and that allowed the whole system to provide a more stable carb inlet air temperature. Carburetors function best within a narrow temperature range, and this system does that as well as can be expected.

A 72-73 351C would have the long stove that covered most of the manifold. The 71 351C had the short stove that only used the #1 cylinder. The outer shell was the same for 2V and 4V, the inner plate changed.

You can stumble on people selling plastic cold air intake ducks on ebay or market place at times. Few days ago, I picked up a bundle on ebay for 130 shipped (in pictures).
Otherwise complete used plastic cold air Intake cost around $120 on used parts reseller sites.

Figured I can use air duct/intake and unload the rest for cheap.

Are there any pictures of the NOX duct and how it mounts under the battery. The diagram doesn’t really show that and photos are almost always from above with the air cleaner. Trying to make sense of where the fresh air is being taken in from. Thanks
 
Finally got around to installing the cold air pipe.
The one I ordered was the Jeep part per earlier discussions. ( J-3231980 flex duct offered by Crown Automotive) I measured the part before installing.
I did not cut the Jeep part. I just pushed it into the receiving ends and job done. It is not perfect, but close enough. Plus it will function as it should and pull cold air in rather than hot air from behind the radiator.

Where did you get the end adapters piece for the snorkel?

1973 had the full-length two-part (inner and outer) heat collector. I am almost certain that 1972 did too. Apparently a California car had stricter emissions which required slightly modified parts.
