while I want the best and have chose Eaton leaf springs I like to save a buck where I can.   Eaton's web site shows springs are $194.50 each/$389 a pair plus $98 shipping, do not know about any tax.     Mac's shows that they sell Eaton springs at $299 a pair and with $23 tax and only $33 shipping, total of $356.  So that makes it Mac's $356  // Eaton $486!!

Has anyone bought these Eaton via Mac's?    Wonder if I should call Eaton and ask this same question?

NPD website list them at $179.50 and that price is shown for all types. I didn't look at shipping, but my old 2019 catalog states $30 shipping per PAIR. the price was also only $149.50 ea. so they've gone up a bit. I think the vendors are able to get better pricing. When I got mine, I had no choice but to order from Eaton because the border is closed and they have a dealer in Windsor, On.

When ordering, make sure that the springs you order are for YOUR car, date wise. They list prior to 10/9/70 and after 10/9/70. No idea what the difference is unless there was a frame dimension change. Also they list the same spring rate for different models, i.e. conv, coup, grande, 351C4V, it gets confusing.

Here is a jpg from that listing (2019)

just logged onto NPD and put them in my car, shipping is still $30 so a total of $389 so NPD seems the best as I trust them more the Mac's
Good call. At least from NPD you can be damn sure they're Eaton and not some 'knock-off' using the Eaton name. However, as I said, make sure they're the ones for YOUR car. Good luck and enjoy. What are you doing for shocks? I have KYB Gas-A-Just and I find them a bit too hard, Eaton suggest the KYB GR-2 low pressure gas shocks, but it depends on what you want.

Don't forget to buy new U bolts and shackles to do the job right. Again, get Eaton stuff.

This is what I plan to order, NPD shows 71-71 but I am sure that is a typo, shows Eaton part number ML 131 which is the same as the Eaton web site.

I would never use old bolts or shackles!!

well doubt if my H code '72 had a competition set up but the 138 lbs seems to be what most recommend.
If it's a Mach 1, it was factory equipped with the Competition Suspension option, which included higher rate springs, firmer shocks, and a variable ratio box if P/S equipped. If a 4V car, then it would also get the staggered rear shocks, rear sway bar and larger front bar.

An H-code 72 Mach would have used D1ZZ-5560-G rear spring, same as the post  10/19/70 F & H code 71 Mach 1s, and 429CJ coupes and Grandes.

is there any plus or minus to going with the higher springs then apparently my H code came with?
That's up to you and the type of driving you do. I opted for Boss 351 springs @ 152.5 lb spring rate, which Eaton made to order. On my Mach 1, I love them. not to hard on the back, but definitely stiffer than the 138 lb s/r. Eaton Boss spring may not be available at most aftermarket vendors, but you can check. Eaton number is ML1823.
