It is time to hang the doors on the 71 again to check gaps.

My drivers side door latch was shot, so I bought a new one from National Parts Depot.

Like most repo parts it is almost right.  For whatever reason the three mounting screws are 10-32 not 12-24 like the original.  I went ahead and tapped the door latch to 12-24 so I could use hardware less likely to damage the door shell.  Check out the picture.  The gold screws are 10-32, the silver ones are 12-24.

For now I am going to rock this solution, but I am curious if anyone knows of a repop door latch source that uses the correct hardware.

I tried ordering a door latch from another vendor.  The two that I got were made by ACP, and they both had 10-32 screws.  I was able to tap them to 12-24 with decent results.
