It's not a ratchet type shifter, so it's no better than the stock Ford shifter and you have to butcher the shift lever on the trans.

If you want a real performance ratchet shifter, look at the Hurst Quarter Stick.

I do not currently own own, as my car is a 4-spd toploader. I've had one car with the Quarter stick, installed a couple for friends and have one friend who has had one in his Roadrunner for over ten years.

The keys with a ratchet shifter are proper setup and adjustment. Make sure it's right, and secure the cable so it can't come in contact with the exhaust.
