Hi guys,

As I put back my car I come across pieces that were not present when purchased and wonder if my application should have. Can't really find any info on this and wonder if any or all of the 71-73 stangs had battery heat shields or just a chosen few?

Anyone know if they were only for big blocks, only large group 27 battery etc?

My car is a 73 351 4V with air and all options including group 27 battery.

Example pic below...thanks everyone.

Lots of discussion on the concours forum site http://www.concoursmustang.com/ about heat shields. Very few survive, and the repro's are designed to fit across multiple years.

From what I can tell, they are not all that successful in saving batteries, so you can pretty much do without it (unless you're a concours-anal type!).

I just went down this road. This is what I think I know. If it has a 351 2v or 4V and AC, Boss 351 or 429, it got the heat shield/air director. I believe there are two being reproduced, one with a C7 P.N. and one with a D0 P.N.. The D0 is correct for 71-73 with group 24 or group 27 battery. If you find a source let me know. Chuck

Chuck,

Thanks for the info...best I can tell they only reproduce the C7 version. Here is a link to a seller for them. Apparently they are very similar to the D0 version.
