seems like a basic question, but I am finding many things on the car that have been changed over the years.  I need new headlight bulbs, so identifying this will help. it seems like I can just replace the bulb, but I know in same cases you have to replace the entire bucket, not just the bulb.  if I can't just replace the bulb, I'll prob upgrade to LED so I can actually see something.

It is the same form as H4, but should not be plugged directly to an H4 halogen bulb, due to the much higher temperature of the halogen. An adapter with a ceramic socket should be used. It is also advisable to power halogen headlights with fused relays connected to the battery.

+1

Connector is the H4 style.

Even sealed beam Halogens will eventually trip the internal circuit breaker in the headlamp switch. Relay pack kits can be had on eBay for less than $15, or you can get a top quality custom made one from Daniel Stern Lighting.

I upgraded to Cibie/Valeo housings, Hella H4 55/60w lamps and a relay pack last year. Best upgrade I've done in a very long time.

Install the LED headlights and dont look back. i love mine. They are great. Look good and Bright as hell!!  They also come with halo's and turn signals if you wish to hook those up. And they plug directly into factory wiring.
