Installing new carpet in my 71 and was wondering if the front seat tracks sit on top of the carpet like they do on the back section? It kinda seems like you could fold the front section of carpet forward and bolt the seat in then fold carpet back to cover the front leg of seat track? I'm just looking for the correct way before I cut holes or trim
Thanks for any info

For what it’s worth, my 72 (manufactured in oct 71) had the entire seat track sitting above the carpet.
I just cut out the 4 holes for each seat, and bolted the seat down (along with the other required holes...seat belts, low/high beam switch, shifter, and other assorted odds & sods).
i think it makes it for a cleaner finished look, in any event.

Thanks guys.. I’ll put them on top of carpet

Burn the holes in the carpet with a soldering iron or a hole punch with a block of wood underneath. Don't use a drill or the pile will pull out well away from the hole.

Thanks guys for the info .. real happy with how the interior is turning out
