I had to repaint an area on the rear of my '73 convertible (base/clearcoat). I did a thorough job of masking the back half of the car, but after spraying the clearcoat I discovered that it had drifted in a cloud all over my garage and settled on everything. Now the entire front half of the car has a gritty haze. How do I remove this? I tried rubbing compound with some success but I'll be at it for a month at this rate.

I would suggest a relatively short throw, small diameter polisher and appropriate compound. Search on Griot''s, Chemical Guys, Harbor Freight, etc. In the future, cover everything you do not want to paint. Chuck
