So I have 2 sets of OEM gauges in rough shape and I also don't have all of the under dash harnesses because this car was originally a straight six. How hard is it to adapt after market gauges to the OEM pods and what brand of gauges would you recommend

Thanks

Have done mine using new dash center piece and 2" electronic gauges. I had to use a Dremel tool to round out the oblong holes, but it went pretty slick. Much better than gauges under the dash.IMG_20220103_075356081.jpgIMG_20220103_075356081.jpg

I replaced all my instrumentation. The oil, alternator and temp gauges are by Equus. The speedo, tach and fuel gauges by Autometer. The tach was modernized by a speed shop but it started acting erratically soon after. The needle bounced between 2000 and 3000 rpm during acceleration so I decided to modernize. The alternator gauge never worked and when I tested it, I found that it had a dead short.

as an option
For what it’s worth, I had a ***** gauge cluster car and now am running parallel ***** light and stock tri gauge oem gauges). I went with stock gauges (I just liked the stock look) and am not concerned with the precise accuracy that can be achieved with new gauges on my stock 302 Cid. It seems to me that as long as I know the engine is running hot, or oil pressure low, that is what is really important.

rocketman (Rccinnovations.com) ( a site supporter) does the conversion of the amp meter to volt meter...and also does a conversion of the ***** lights cluster by adding in new modern tach guts to the oem gauge package.
I am quite pleased with Rocketman’s work ( I found him through some youtube videos ... one of which was Chris the doc ingratiate) before I was a member here)

good luck with your choice on your direction
