The D20E-6312-AA pulley is exactly the same as my D1ZE-6312-AA BOSS 351 front crank pulley. Is the D20E-AA for a '72 R code or a replacement for the D1ZE BOSS 351 front crank pulley? Thanks in advance, Dave

Hello Dave,
The engineers specified only one outer pulley to be used on the '71 Boss and '72 HO R code. The part number D0ZZ-6A312-A was never replaced and remained in the parts system until discontinued in the late '80s.
Although the part number never changed, the engineering number changed several times, and in order of succession is D0ZE-A → D0OZ-A → D1ZE-AA, BA, →D0ZE-B. The final ID# for the D0ZZ-6A312-A reverted to the D0ZE format but carried the final B revision.

The D2OZ-6A312-A (D2OE-6312-AA, BA) was an outer pully released by the Gran Torino powertrain engineers and was used to replace the D1ZZ-6A312-C (D1ZE-CA) that was initially released for 71/ standard and CJ versions of the 351C. The D2OZ-A pully was never replaced and remained in the parts system until discontinued in 1987.
Whew, that's enough numbers for now! :)
