Hi Group,
After having the dash apart a couple times each time something else breaks well, now it's the gas gauge.
First off took out dash because dim lights, then lost the speedo and if was acting pretty off seem way slower then it should be. So I placed in a VDO need to calibrate the GPS still. During the removal the dash circuit which was in poor shape tore enough so I replaced in with NPD new with Tach circuit.
Next put it together and lost gas gauge, took apart and found the 9 volt clip was not on. I placed it on and taped around just in case.
Most important before I added the dash circuit the gas gauge screw the brass nut would not screw back on, acted like it was striped. Removed check it out open the gauge up and when I put it all back together the brass nut tighten.
I am pretty sure when the screw was turning with the nut it broke a connection and my guess why the gauge failed. The gauge was off a 1/4 of a tank also.
Is there way to repair the gauge or even to replace with an after market. With the dash circuit the way it is I am concerned on finding the correct 73 gas gauge. I been looking and nothing.
May have to bite the bullet and relocate newer type gauge? Wonder what Ohm the factory gauge works on.
Sorry for the long story.
Thanks again for any advice.
