My Car
71 Mach1
I'm trying to get the dash back together on my 71 Mach1dash.jpg and I don't have a clue what went in the hole left of the headlight switch. Any info would be appreciated, Thanks, and hope I'm in the right forum.

Also, what goes in the rectangle slot above the glove box? There was a plastic trim piece I removed, but nothing inside of it. I got this car in pieces and it's been a jigsaw puzzle with lots of missing pieces and no detailed pictures for reference loldashh.jpg

This looks like a 72-73 dash. That would be where the seat belt light goes on those years. I don't think 71s had seat belt lights on the passenger side.

Since your car is a 1971, you should find a 1971 dash assembly. 1971’s shouldn’t have a seatbelt light on the passenger side. In 1971, the hole on the left would be a seatbelt light, and if you have a tachometer you would have an additional hole for a park brake light.

I looked on my 72 Mach1 with deluxe interior and it had neither. I did order a seat belt light to fill the hole on the dash I'm rebuilding. If I can't find a parking brake light, I'll plug it with a rubber plug. It's not a restoration. I've loosely making it a 429 clone. Below are the pictures of my 72 Mach1 parts car

Will you be using the interior plastic dash trim? There are some trim pieces that go on the face of the passenger side dash and cover up that square hole for the seatbelt light.

It doesn't matter that it's a 72 dash to me. I'm not restoring it. After looking at many online, they vary from one hole to two holes plus a defrost switch. It has a tach, but didn't come with deluxe interior. I'm actually changing everything to the NVU gauges. I'm leaving it in metal. Thanks for the input
